I visited for lunch around 11:45 am and was able to be seated right away. I ordered the oyster fry and chicken zangi set (¥1,300). The zangi was delicious, but the oyster fry was absolutely amazing. The oysters were rich and plump, making it the best oyster fry I've ever had. Next time I come, I'll definitely order the oyster fry set. By the time I finished eating and was leaving, there were over 10 people lined up on the stairs.
Escape the hustle and bustle of Tokyo and savor the exquisite taste of Akkeshi oysters! Nestled in the heart of Tokyo, in Yaesu, lies a hidden gem that transports you away from the daily grind. This haven, specializing in fresh seafood, particularly oysters flown in directly from Akkeshi, Hokkaido, is a true sanctuary. Descending the stairs leading to the basement, you enter a different world. The warm ambiance of the wooden interior creates a cozy and inviting atmosphere. I visited on a Saturday, and while the restaurant was bustling with energy, my reservation ensured a smooth seating experience. I started with the oyster tasting set, a delightful journey through the various ways to enjoy these delectable mollusks: raw, grilled, and steamed. The raw oysters, shucked right before your eyes, are a testament to their exceptional freshness. Each bite explodes with the essence of the sea. The 'Kaki-emon' variety was particularly memorable, its impressive size and melt-in-your-mouth texture were truly unique. The oyster gratin and 'ルイベ' (a dish of raw oysters marinated in soy sauce and sake) were equally exquisite. The gratin was creamy and bursting with the rich flavor of oysters, while the 'ルイベ', served frozen, released a burst of umami with each bite. It was a revelation, showcasing the versatility of oysters. Beyond oysters, the menu boasts an array of other delights, including salt-baked clams noodles, giant Atka mackerel, and salted cod roe with butter and potatoes. Each dish is a testament to the chef's meticulous attention to detail, highlighting the natural flavors of the ingredients and pairing perfectly with sake. The staff was exceptional, providing friendly and attentive service, offering recommendations and insights into the day's fresh catch. This experience allowed me to escape the urban clamor and immerse myself in the bounty of Hokkaido's Akkeshi, its pristine nature, and the generosity of the sea. Indulge in the ultimate seafood experience, a taste of travel right in the heart of Tokyo. It's an unforgettable journey for your senses.
Had lunch here. Both the oyster fry and the Zanki chicken were delicious. The photos of the menu items in the restaurant were dark and it was hard to tell what the actual dishes looked like. In the end, the actual dishes were better than the photos, so I was relieved, but I feel like the photos are doing them a disservice. They should definitely be replaced.
I ordered the oyster fry set meal. It wasn't to my liking. The oysters were fishy and the fry wasn't crispy. I was quite disappointed. The staff were very friendly and the restaurant had a nice atmosphere, but the food wasn't to my taste. My wife's salmon and ikura set meal wasn't to her liking either.
I had a reservation, so I was able to get in at 6:00 PM, but it seems like it's very popular on Fridays, with people rushing in at the last minute. The appetizer, a steamed egg custard, was delicious and raised my expectations. I enjoyed the classic dishes like fresh oysters, zangi (deep-fried chicken), and hokke (saithe), and also ordered some unusual delicacies like liver sashimi (I can't remember what kind of fish it was). I really liked it. I tried to focus on my taste buds to see which oyster was the best in the oyster tasting set, but they were all so delicious that I couldn't rank them. There were also some dishes like oyster gratin that I didn't finish, so I'll definitely come back again.
