A branch of a restaurant located in Ryogoku. Around 6 pm on a weekday, it was about 70% full, with a few reserved seats. Hasegawa Tonkatsu 180g for 2700 yen, a pork cutlet with garlic, perilla, and cheese. It was served in about 20 minutes. I had the impression it would be rich, but it was lighter than I expected. Maybe because I chose the loin, the fat was more than I anticipated, and I felt like I might get a stomach ache. Cabbage and rice are refillable. It's a hearty meal that fills you up. They also have hot pot and various other pork dishes.
For lunch, I visited "Tonkatsu Hasegawa Higashi Ginza", located in Higashi Ginza. It's a branch of the famous tonkatsu restaurant in Ryogoku. When I arrived around 1 pm, there was a line. However, it was only about 3 groups waiting, so I was able to enter the restaurant after about 15 minutes. This day was also a celebration for my colleague, so I ordered the "Thick-Cut Premium Loin Cutlet (¥3,300)". The meat was 220g, so it was quite a lot. Rice and cabbage are refillable. I tried the cabbage with their homemade onion dressing, which was very elegant and I devoured it. The loin cutlet was made with Hiramaki Barg Sanko Pork from Tochigi Prefecture. The recommended way to eat it was with "wasabi and salt", so I followed that. It was absolutely delicious and went perfectly with the rice. Afterwards, I tried it with sauce and mustard, which was also delicious. The red miso soup had nameko mushrooms in it, which was also very tasty. It was definitely a popular restaurant for a reason. #TonkatsuHasegawa #TonkatsuHasegawaHigashiGinza #Hasegawa #HigashiGinzaGourmet #HigashiGinzaLunch #HigashiGinzaTonkatsu #TsukijiGourmet #TsukijiLunch #TsukijiTonkatsu #ThickCutPremiumLoinCutlet #KuboYuEatWalkReview #KuboYu
★Foodie Lawyer's Food Diary★ 【Instagram】joy_sound 【Tabelog】_Chrome_ ーーーーーーーーーーーーー Fillet & Loin, Crab Cream Croquette! Visited Hasegawa in Higashi-Ginza. It's listed in Tabelog's 100 Best Tonkatsu Restaurants. Arrived shortly before last order. They were very kind and attentive, not showing any signs of annoyance. Ordered the Fillet & Loin Set Crab Cream Croquette Rice and cabbage are refillable. Eating it with wasabi and salt brought out the deliciousness of the meat directly, which was great. I think I preferred the loin to the fillet. Thank you for the meal! ーーーーーーーーーーーー Likes, saves, and comments are encouraging!!
This was a truly delicious tonkatsu restaurant. The atmosphere was great and everything we ordered was absolutely exquisite. The upper loin cut was one of the best tonkatsu I've ever had, if not the best. The pork itself was incredibly flavorful. You can tell they use high-quality meat. I was surprised by the "Shabu-burian" (a cut of pork). It was a lean, clean meat, but they fried it to perfection, making it incredibly delicious! I also loved that the rice was all-you-can-eat. Every dish was top-notch, making this a truly excellent tonkatsu restaurant!
Craving katsudon, I headed to Tonkatsu Hasegawa. It's often packed at night, so I decided to try my luck during lunchtime. It was a weekday, a little past 12 pm, and there were four groups waiting. There was no sign-up sheet, so we were seated in the order we arrived. There were a few inbound tourists in line. It's always nice to see people from overseas lining up for tonkatsu. While waiting, they handed out menus. There were so many different tonkatsu options! The Hasegawa tonkatsu comes with garlic, shiso, or even cheese-filled loin. Those sounded delicious, but today, I was in the mood for katsudon (laughs). After about 10 minutes, we were seated. They fry the tonkatsu one by one, so depending on the order, it can take a while to get your food. It's best to come when you have plenty of time. The katsudon came with a full spread: rice, red miso soup with namako (sea cucumber), cabbage, pickles, and a dish of simmered hijiki seaweed and soybeans. The katsudon looked delicious, with the meat fried to a crispy perfection. The meat had a fair amount of fat, which was sweet, but I'm not a huge fan of fat, so I would have preferred it leaner. Both the rice and cabbage were refillable. The dressing for the cabbage was a homemade onion dressing, which was quite tasty. The menchi katsu seemed popular, as several people ordered it. A friend told me that the tonkatsu at Hasegawa varies significantly between branches, so I'm definitely going to try other locations.
