I finally got to try the famous omurice I'd seen all over Instagram! 🍳 I'd heard there were long lines, but I was able to get in right away at 11:30 am on a weekday! However, there was a line forming when I left, so it's probably best to go at a time other than lunchtime on weekdays. The interior has a classic coffee shop vibe.☕️ They only accept cash, so be aware of that! ○menu Omurice set (with cheese topping) The omurice arrived with a flat bed of ketchup rice topped with an omelet-like egg. The egg was runny on the inside, and the cheese was stretchy and plentiful.🤤 It was so delicious, it's no wonder people line up for it.🥹 If you've seen it on social media and are curious, you should definitely check it out!
Melon Juice + Float ¥800 Located a 2-minute walk from Tokyo Metro Higashi-Ginza Station, this long-established coffee shop is across from the Kabuki-za Theatre and has been selected as one of the 100 Best Coffee Shops in Japan. The neon sign shines brightly in the back of the brick building. I was able to enter without waiting at around 3 pm, but the shop was crowded. The first floor has counter seats and tables, while the second floor has tables with narrow spacing. The dimly lit, calm atmosphere with quiet jazz playing in the background truly embodies the essence of a classic Japanese coffee shop. Their famous dish is an omelet rice with a fluffy omelet on top of ketchup rice, but I only had a drink since I had lunch already. The refreshing green melon soda topped with ice cream had a nostalgic Showa era feel. I noticed many people ordering the omelet rice and it made me curious. I'd like to try it next time. Thank you for the meal.
As the reviews said, I was able to get in after about four groups when I was dining alone. I arrived on Sunday at 11:00 am, the opening time, and was called in after about 30 minutes. I ordered the omelet set. It was surprisingly small, and I thought I should have ordered a large portion if I wanted a filling meal. I'm a woman, but I think a man would definitely find it too small. The omelet itself was delicious, soft and fluffy. I wish I had ordered a larger portion and eaten more! I'll definitely order a large portion next time!
This is my favorite spot, and I've been coming here almost 10 times now. It's a cafe, but I'd say 90% of the customers are here for the omurice. The combination of the jiggly cheese, milky eggs, and chicken rice is just perfect! They use a generous amount of eggs, so I always order a large portion of rice. Be prepared to wait in line, so make sure to give yourself plenty of time!
This is a long-established coffee shop located about a 3-minute walk from Higashi-Ginza Station. It's popular for its Western-style dishes like omurice, and when I arrived around 12:30 pm on a weekend, there was a line of about 12 groups. The interior feels like you've stepped back in time to the Showa era. This time, I ordered the popular omurice. The ketchup rice was cooked slightly firm, making it easy to eat. The omelet was fluffy and soft, and the balance with the ketchup rice was perfect. It was absolutely delicious.
