With over 300 types of sherry! A restaurant where Spanish cuisine and sherry pair perfectly! I visited "Sherry Club," known for its extensive sherry selection. This establishment is a sherry specialty restaurant where you can enjoy the pairing of Spanish cuisine and sherry. This time, I focused on popular menu items like ajillo and roasted Iberian pork, and tested the compatibility of the dishes with sherry. ◎ Good Points ● Ajillo I had the mushroom ajillo, which was truly exquisite. Compared to other restaurants, the oil was incredibly rich, and the garlic aroma spread strongly. Especially when eaten with bread, the richness of the oil was further enhanced, making it a simple yet satisfying dish. The ajillo paired exceptionally well with light sherry, making it enjoyable to have multiple servings. ● Roasted Iberian Pork Next, a dish of Iberian pork shoulder roast cooked slowly at a low temperature. The fat was incredibly juicy, and the melting sensation in your mouth is unforgettable once experienced. The essence of the pork was concentrated, and it paired well with the accompanying vegetables, making it a well-balanced dish overall. The roast was perfectly accented by a slightly heavier sherry, making it ideal for enjoying with meat dishes. ● Seafood Paella The paella, even in the small size, was generously filled with ingredients, making it just the right amount for two people to share. Especially, the seafood like shrimp and squid were cooked perfectly, and the broth from the seafood had thoroughly permeated the rice. The crispy parts were also fragrant and enjoyable as a textural accent. It paired exceptionally well with sherry, making it a dish that enhances the meal. ● Sherry-Drenched Vanilla Ice Cream For dessert, I had vanilla ice cream with sherry poured over it. The aroma and sweetness of the sherry combined with the vanilla ice cream to create an adult flavor. It was a simple dessert, but the unique flavor of the sherry was fully utilized, making it enjoyable until the very end. ● Atmosphere and Service The atmosphere of the restaurant is calm and perfect for dates or small gatherings. With so many types of sherry, it's fun to choose with the help of the staff. Especially, they explain things clearly even to beginners, so you can enjoy yourself without worrying even if you're not familiar with sherry. ☆ Summary "Sherry Club" is a hidden gem of a restaurant where you can savor the pairing of Spanish cuisine and sherry. They have over 300 types of sherry, and they've made it easy for even beginners to enjoy. All the dishes are carefully considered for their compatibility with sherry, and the ajillo and roasted Iberian pork are must-tries. This restaurant is recommended for those who want to enjoy sherry or savor Spanish cuisine at a leisurely pace.
I recently visited a shop that specializes in sherry. I learned that there are many different types of sherry, which was very interesting. It was both educational and delicious, making it a fantastic experience. I ordered a cocktail, which was very easy to drink. The cucumber appetizer was unexpected but paired well with the drink. The paella was also delicious, and I'm looking forward to trying it again.
Tokyo Business Trip🗼 Reunited with my Spanish friend at Sherry Club🍾 After finishing work… I entered the store at 9:00 PM on Saturday… The store was 90% full… Regular customers at the counter, a group of women, gave up their seats for the two of us. Good stores have professional staff and good customers… I exchanged words of gratitude and we settled into a corner seat at the counter… First… a glass of CAVA sparkling wine… After my friend joined, we had one bottle of CAVA sparkling wine… two bottles of Manzanilla Gitana… three glasses of Spanish brandy… We enjoyed Iberian ham, chorizo, and finger bread… The first night of our reunion after the pandemic… a night of endless conversation and good times. Sherry is a specialty wine from the Andalusian region of Spain. It is a ‘fortified wine’ where alcohol is added during the production process, and it is classified as a white wine. Compared to regular wine, it has a higher alcohol content, a brown hue that results from a special aging process, and a complex nutty flavor. This Sherry Club is a famous store that popularized sherry in Japan. If you are a Spain lover, this is a place where you can enjoy a variety of dishes, wines, and sherry types. It is a place where you can enjoy wonderful food… drinks… and spend time with important people.
The Spanish food was delicious! The omelet, the meat, everything was tasty. The sherry was also refreshing and nice. The sardines in vinegar were good too. I think Spanish food suits Japanese people well.
The name itself suggests a place far from a typical restaurant, and the entrance, leading up to an attic-like space, adds to its mysterious charm. However, this is a place where you can enjoy Spanish cuisine even during the day. The paella, infused with the rich essence of seafood, was particularly delicious. The vibrant red tablecloth further enhances the dishes, creating a lively atmosphere for dining.
