I enjoyed being able to try two different ways of eating the salmon and roe donburi. The atmosphere is very nice and the quality of the food is impressive. When the beautifully prepared dish arrived, I felt compelled to eat it with the same care and attention. Both ways of eating were equally delicious. I bought a kit to make the delicious dashi and deep soy sauce. While airport restaurants tend to be more expensive due to location costs, this restaurant felt like it was priced fairly for the quality. The only downside is that there are few seats and the kitchen is small, so the careful preparation of the food can lead to long wait times. It might be necessary to aim for less busy times. I recommend coming with plenty of time.
I was a bit confused at first, as I had just returned from overseas and was rushing to catch the train. But today, I arrived in the afternoon, so I had some time to spare. Since I was craving Japanese food for lunch, and I love ajifry (deep-fried horse mackerel), I decided to give this place a try! The wait wasn't too long. I bought a ticket and was delighted to see that they had Yamazaki and Hakushu whiskey for their highballs. I couldn't resist trying it! The ajifry was absolutely delicious, as expected. The tartare sauce with smoked burdock was even better. I was surprised by the waiter's recommendation of wasabi and rock salt, which were also incredibly tasty. The grated radish was delicious too, adding another dimension of flavor. I was so satisfied with the variety of flavors! It was a truly delicious meal!
The food was delicious. I think you have to order one dish per person, but since we weren't sure if our child would eat it, we ordered one raw horse mackerel fry set for two. They were kind enough to say it was fine since it wasn't busy. They even provided a children's set for sharing. I heard the Shibuya branch specializes in mackerel with miso, so I'd like to try that too. I bought some dashi packs because the samples were so good.
The food is delicious, but the price-performance ratio is very poor. It might be a good option to enjoy before leaving Japan. Personally, I prefer the ajifry (horse mackerel fry) to have a slightly larger breadcrumb coating for a fluffier texture. The seating is only at the counter, and while the beautiful plating is appreciated, I wished the tray was placed on the counter instead of being handed to me. If you're looking for rare ajifry, I recommend other restaurants in Gotanda. This is ultimately a place for overseas residents to savor delicious Japanese food before leaving Japan. Incidentally, credit cards can only be used for purchases over 10,000 yen, so be mindful of payment methods.
The fresh, raw mackerel fry I'd heard so much about. It was even more delicious than I imagined, a truly surprising experience. If you're flying through Haneda International Airport, this is a must-visit spot on your way in or out. The quality is so good that you'll think the 2,500 yen price tag is a steal.
