The shop has a nice atmosphere. As soon as you enter, there's a narrow counter, and in the back, there are tables. It was almost full! You can tell it's a popular place. The skewers were all delicious! I loved the "chouchin" (chicken skin) so much I ordered it three times! I also loved the "hiza nankotsu" (chicken cartilage) and the honey cheese. I'll definitely be back. The price is great for the amount of food you get! I want to go back again!
While on a business trip, I suddenly craved yakitori and sake, so I visited several yakitori restaurants on a Friday at 5 PM, but they were all full or booked. I finally found this place, the fourth one I tried, and was able to get in with a 7:15 PM time limit. It was the right choice. The glass of beer was small, about the size of a champagne flute, but I just wanted to quench my thirst before the sake, so it wasn't a problem. Everything I ordered was delicious, especially the liver, which is perfect for purine lovers. The chicken roe was a real treat that made the sake go down smoothly. I could eat it every day. And to my surprise, the bill was under ¥5,000 even though I ate and drank quite a bit!
I called on a Friday, not expecting anything, but they had a table available so I went. The last order is at 10 pm. The atmosphere inside was lively. My companion ordered the chicken and ikura, and it was incredibly delicious. It's not something you can easily find, but I definitely want to order it again next time. There was a wide variety of sake and shochu, making it a very exciting space. The yakitori was, of course, delicious. We ate quite a bit for two people and it came out to around 6,000 yen, which I think is excellent value for money.
This yakitori restaurant is located near Ningyocho Station. It's a highly recommended spot for delicious and affordable yakitori. I've been a regular customer for years, but this was my first visit in a while. There are several great yakitori places in Ningyocho, and this one is definitely among them. It's always packed, so it's best to make a reservation for dinner. I saw several groups of people who came in without reservations and had to leave. It seems like more foreigners have been coming here lately, which is a change from the past. While there's no English menu, it's a great place to experience a truly authentic Japanese atmosphere. You order your food verbally, and the timing is up to the chef. It's easy to forget what you ordered and what's coming out next. Every yakitori dish is delicious and reasonably priced. I highly recommend the liver pâté, which is absolutely amazing. The grilled rice balls at the end are also a must-try. Please note that they only accept cash payments.
This popular yakitori restaurant is located about a 5-minute walk from Ningyocho Station. It's so popular that reservations are often booked weeks in advance, especially on Fridays and Saturdays. I had heard good things about it and knew they had a wide selection of reasonably priced drinks, so I had been wanting to visit for a while. Finally, I was able to make a reservation for two people at 7:30 PM on a Friday. The restaurant was packed when we arrived, and even after some groups left, other reservation holders were immediately filling their seats. It's definitely essential to book in advance. We ordered about 10 skewers for two people. I'll list everything we had at the end, but the first thing you should order is the "chouchin"! For ¥250, you get two large kin kan (quail eggs) and a generous portion of chicken skin, making it a very satisfying dish. The skin is also quite long, so you can enjoy its chewy texture. Another standout was the "sori" for ¥250. This is a rare cut from the thigh area, near the bone, and is known for its rich flavor. Only about two pieces can be taken from each chicken. It was incredibly tender and juicy, and the meaty juices just burst out when you bit into it. Even if you're someone who usually prefers salt or tare (sauce), I highly recommend ordering the yakitori here "omakaze" (chef's choice). Both the salt and tare are made without any chemical seasonings, allowing the natural flavors of the chicken to shine through. I usually prefer salt, but their tare was not too sweet and was absolutely delicious! Another highlight was the shochu. When you order it with soda, it comes out with incredibly strong carbonation! Shochu has a higher alcohol content compared to highballs, so it usually ends up with weak carbonation when mixed with soda. But this place was a surprise – the carbonation was so strong! I don't know how they do it, but it comes out ice-cold, so maybe they chill both the water and the shochu to the extreme. It was the strongest carbonation I've ever experienced with shochu soda (laughs). The food was delicious beyond its affordable prices, and I was impressed by the drinks. This is definitely a place I want to revisit. ※Here are the menu items and prices we ordered for reference. 【food】 ※Otoshi (appetizer) ¥500/person (shirasu oroshi - grated daikon radish with whitebait) ・Hatu (heart) ¥180 ・Reba (liver) ¥180 ・Sunagimo (gizzard) ¥180 ・Mune (breast) with yuzu pepper ¥180 ・Yagen Nanコツ (cartilage) ¥180 ・Azuki (spleen) ¥200 ・Chouchin (chicken skin with quail eggs) ¥250 ・Sori (thigh cut) ¥250 ・Goro (coarsely ground chicken meatballs) ¥280 ・Maitake (hen of the woods mushroom) ¥220 ・Shiitake with butter and soy sauce ¥250 ・Chicken Ikura (salmon roe) ¥600 ・Chicken Soup ¥220 【drink】 ・Jukaki (ripe persimmon liqueur) ¥600 ・Louis Bouvier Brut (Champagne) ¥700 ・Aoka-ge (Japanese sake) ¥700
