I spotted a line near the entrance of the Tokyo Daimaru department store! Curious, I approached and discovered that Nenrinya was selling their 'Baumkuchen An-Nama Sand' for a limited time! Since it would be a while until my next meeting, I decided to join the queue. The staff asked how many boxes I wanted (limited to two per person) and gave me a placemat-like thing to hold while I waited. There were about 10 people in front of me, and the staff were very efficient, so it didn't feel like I waited too long. They even double-bagged my purchase and readily provided ice packs, so despite the slightly warm temperature, I was able to bring it home safely! I usually prefer their regular 'soft' Baumkuchen, but unfortunately, the smaller size was sold out (T_T)
A charming spring-limited box of "Hitokuchi Baum" assortment, featuring 4 varieties with 10 pieces each. The "Mount Baum" boasts a delicate cherry blossom aroma, a spring-limited flavor, along with matcha and a generous amount of buds. I personally adore the "Straight Baum, Soft Buds", which is baked with an abundance of eggs for a fluffy texture. It's the perfect companion for tea or coffee.
I was drawn in by a sign advertising a new baumkuchen that had just been released in February, so I bought one with white chocolate. The prices seemed a bit high overall, but after trying it, I understood why. It was incredibly delicious! It's perfect for a souvenir. I'll definitely stop by again on my next trip to Tokyo!
I joined the queue because it was so long, and ended up buying some. I usually buy firm sprouts, so the soft sprouts and the light, creamy filling felt a bit underwhelming.
I always buy this as a souvenir when I go to Tokyo for work! They have individual packs and seasonal flavors, and the staff are very friendly!
