Located just a 2-minute walk from Roppongi Station, on a street one block behind Roppongi-dori, is a popular bakery known as "Pan Hyaku Meiten" (Bakery Hundred Best). The shop boasts a wide selection of breads, including hard-style breads, sweet breads, and savory breads, all made from scratch in their second-floor workshop within the building. They use natural yeast and bake their high-hydration, low-temperature, long-fermented dough in a stone oven. The all-scratch process allows them to offer their breads at reasonable prices. Their signature "Roppongi Salt Bread" (¥240) is a must-try. The chewy dough is perfectly seasoned with a touch of salt. The bread is made with their signature "shiratama" (glutinous rice flour) dough, wrapped in butter and baked to perfection. The addition of Guerande salt, rich in minerals, enhances the flavor. The simple appearance is also appealing. The "Anpan" (red bean paste bun) is another standout. The chewy dough is filled with a generous amount of sweet red bean paste, making it a truly delicious treat. The "Mochi Mochi Nozawana Tuna Mayo" (¥280) is a unique combination of chewy dough made with shiratama flour, Nozawana (pickled mustard greens), and tuna mayonnaise. It's a flavor that will keep you coming back for more. All of the breads have a chewy texture and are incredibly delicious. The "Bismark" is a classic savory bread. They also offer a variety of baked goods, including canelé, which looked delicious. I'm definitely going to try the canelé next time. The prices are reasonable, and I'm looking forward to returning for more delicious bread. The bakery is adjacent to a cafe, so you can enjoy your bread there.
This renowned bakery, consistently ranked among the top 100 bakeries in Japan, is located just a minute's walk from Roppongi Station. They use an all-scratch method, crafting their bread from scratch in their in-house workshop on the second floor, encompassing everything from dough preparation to shaping and baking. Their bread, made with natural yeast, boasts a high hydration ratio and undergoes a long, low-temperature fermentation before being baked in a stone oven, resulting in incredibly delicious bread. The extensive menu features a wide variety of options, from savory breads to baked goods, making it hard to choose. The convenience of accepting various payment methods, including credit cards, QR codes, and transportation cards, is a plus. If you're looking for bread in Roppongi, this is an absolute must-try!
Recommended uses: As a gift, for the next day's breakfast, as a snack. Must-try menu: Roppongi Salt Bread Meal volume: Adjustable The chewy texture of the bread is delicious, and I buy it every time I'm in the neighborhood. The secret to its chewiness is the mochi (glutinous rice flour) dough! It's made with natural yeast and baked in a stone oven, so it's made with care. The Roppongi Salt Bread I had this time was delicious when warmed up, with the butter oozing out. The crispy exterior and fluffy interior are addictive. The menu introduction at the store lists the bread's firmness on a scale of 5, which I found to be a thoughtful touch, making it safe for everyone from the elderly to children to enjoy. It's also great for taking as a gift!
This bakery is located on a street one block back from Roppongi-dori. The building houses a variety of businesses, including a wine shop and an Italian restaurant, making it a convenient spot. They make everything from kneading the dough to baking it all within the same building. They have a wide variety of breads, from sweet pastries to savory breads. It's also nice that the prices are reasonable for Roppongi. I used it for takeout. I love the bread made with mochi rice dough. The "Salt Bread" has a crispy exterior and a fluffy, chewy interior. The rich buttery flavor and saltiness are perfect. It's small in size, but surprisingly filling. I also recommend the simple "Rice Baguette", also made with mochi rice dough. The "白玉ブール" (Shiratama Boul) looked delicious too. I definitely want to try it next time.
It's definitely not close to home, but it's my favorite bakery that I visit often. My recommendation is definitely the salt bread! The chewy texture and the way it oozes with juice when reheated is something you won't find anywhere else. When I want something sweet, I go for the Roppongi Anpan. The chewy salt bread and the not-too-sweet red bean paste are a must-buy for me! It opens early in the morning, so it's easy to use for a solo eat-in time before restaurants open!
