Even though it was autumn in September, the evening was still quite hot. As I walked past the shop, I saw chilled sweet sake being sold at the front, and I couldn't resist ordering some. 😋 As advertised, it was just the sweetness of rice koji, so it wasn't cloyingly sweet. It had a natural sweetness and was very easy to drink. It was also served cold, which was refreshing after my tiring walk from Suitengu Shrine. 👍 They also had bracken mochi and shaved ice available for takeout, and there were long chairs in front of the shop where you could eat them. ✌️ The shop's display case was filled with delicious-looking Japanese sweets. If I hadn't been planning to eat dinner later, I would have bought some to take home. 👌 I'll definitely have to visit again to buy some Japanese sweets. 😊

I enjoyed a refreshing chilled amazake. Its deliciousness was truly soothing for my body, weary from the heat! The shop has a bench in front, which was a welcome sight as I could sit and enjoy my drink. I'd like to try their sweets next time.

Located in Ningyocho, "Kyo Kashiji Hiko-kuro" is a traditional Japanese confectionery shop. The shop has a small sales space. I often buy taiyaki (fish-shaped pastry) from Yanagiya, and I'm usually satisfied with that, so I don't often buy anything here. But when Yanagiya was closed, I decided to stop by on a whim. I bought a dorayaki (red bean pancake) for 260 yen. The dough had a nice flavor, and the red bean paste was also quite delicious. They sometimes sell amazake (sweet rice drink). I tried it the other day, and it was a heartwarming drink on a cold day. It's also reasonably priced at 200 yen.

Perfect for a hot day! The chilled sweet sake is only 200 yen. It has a nice grain texture but isn't too sweet, making it easy to drink. A great break!

A warm cup of sweet sake on a cold winter night. I was lucky to get the last one. It was a very grainy sweet sake, with a gentle sweetness that reminded me of rice. I was told that the owner is very particular about the koji (rice malt), and I could definitely tell. The woman who works there recommended the chilled sweet sake, so I'll definitely go back when it gets hot. Actually, I'll stop by whenever I'm in the neighborhood. 🍡
