I was drawn in by the sign advertising 'European-style curry' during lunchtime. The curry I had was more like a home-style curry, making me wonder, "Is this really European-style?" A 'small' portion is free, while a 'large' portion is paid. The curry itself is very cheap, so I opted for the 'large' portion and was full afterwards. The owner was very kind and attentive. The restaurant was filled with cigarette smoke. The person sitting next to me was a chain smoker, and they smoked constantly throughout the entire time I was waiting for my food and eating, which was quite unpleasant. Only cash payments are accepted. It was a very retro atmosphere. They seem to offer drinks as a service to returning customers, but I probably won't be going back.
This rock bar is located up a steep flight of stairs. I had the omurice curry for lunch. It had a home-style flavor, but they said they used spices properly, and I started sweating after eating it. All the curries come with a salad, and they offer a slightly larger portion for free, so I asked for that. It was a pretty large serving and I was satisfied. You can order coffee for 100 yen, but they give it to you for free after your second visit. You can choose between unsweetened and sweetened coffee. The rock and roll-looking owner was also very nice, and the interior has a nostalgic feel that is calming. They said it becomes a rock bar at night with analog records, so I'm curious about the atmosphere at night. It was a curry shop that I felt comfortable in and would like to visit again if I'm in the area.
This is a cool, old-school bar on Harajuku Street (also known as Tonchan Street) that blasts rock music. While the volume seems to have been turned down a bit in the last 10 years, the fun atmosphere remains the same.
The master was very friendly. When we started talking, it turned out that he went to the same school during his youth as my hometown! We had a great time reminiscing.
This is a fantastic bar that always plays classic rock from the 70s to 90s. Upstairs on the second floor, you'll find a counter and tables, while the third floor offers a comfortable lounge area with sofas. There's a DJ booth, and they'll play music from their vinyl collection if you request it. The drinks were also delicious.
