It's located behind Ueno Marui. They have a wide variety of menu options, including morning and lunch sets. The dishes are quite filling. The toast is very thick, and even the half-size parfait was satisfying. The entrance has a ramp, and while the restroom has a single step down at the entrance, it's still accessible for people with mobility issues. This is an old-fashioned coffee shop that has participated in department store food festivals in the past.
I ordered the classic, retro-style spaghetti with meat sauce and tuna toast. The portions were generous, and the tuna toast had perfectly crispy bread, a dream for any bread lover! The spaghetti was also packed with ingredients and incredibly satisfying. It was truly delicious. I went around 1 p.m. on a weekday and luckily found a seat, but there were about four groups waiting in line shortly after. Many people were dining alone, so it's a great spot for a quick and casual meal. The staff was also incredibly kind! They offer two sizes for their parfaits, and I went for the larger one, which was a huge amount of food... I recommend sharing it with someone!
I visited on May 18, 2024. I was in Ueno for an errand and went alone, waiting in line for 30 minutes. I had wanted to try this place because it had good reviews. It's an old-fashioned place, so maybe its charm is the retro feel. The food was good, especially the curry! The melon soda was also nostalgic and delicious! I had another appointment that day and wanted to kill some time, but there was a long line outside the shop. And I was also a little self-conscious about the staff's gaze, so I left after 30 minutes. It's a popular place, so there's a 90-minute time limit for the sake of the next customers. I don't think it's suitable for someone who wants to relax alone. The atmosphere and service were good, and this time it was my own problem that I couldn't stay long. If you go with someone else, you should be able to enjoy the food and be satisfied! They accept PayPay.
Established in 1975, this retro Showa-era pure coffee shop has remained unchanged for 45 years, transporting you back in time the moment you step through the door! I ordered the morning toast (regular) set for ¥700. The toast was generously spread with margarine, which oozed out with every bite! The coffee was also brewed right in front of me by the staff. 😊 By the way, for an extra ¥50, you can get double the thickness of toast, which is recommended for those with a big appetite!
There were about six groups of people waiting in line around 10 am on a holiday. I peeked inside and saw empty seats, but they weren't letting anyone in. After a while, everyone was allowed in at once. The atmosphere was jazzy, with old-fashioned chairs and tables. Everything was kept clean, and the phone was a rotary dial. I ordered the morning set, which is available until 11 am, and chose thick-cut toast. I also ordered coffee, and it took quite a while for it to arrive. I think the coffee took about 20 minutes and the toast about 30 minutes. The thickness of the thick-cut toast and how well the butter soaked in was amazing, so the wait was worth it! The boiled egg was also a nice touch for ¥750. It was a wonderful space and a luxurious morning. There were quite a few people eating parfaits. After that, the line kept growing and growing, and it was so long that it had to turn back on itself. I think it would take a long time to get in.
