Located within Ueno Station, this Spanish bar, BAL, is easily accessible and has a casual, welcoming atmosphere. I arrived around 1:30 PM on a weekday and was able to be seated immediately. The lunch menu is a great deal, as it comes with an appetizer. They also offer affordable glasses of wine and reasonably priced bottles. If you order dessert, you can get coffee for 400 yen. The Basque cheesecake was incredibly delicious and surprisingly large. You can order either verbally or by scanning a QR code, both options are available. The staff was very friendly and helpful. It seems like they have a wider selection of à la carte items in the evening, so I'd like to try it out at night next time.
The salad was average, but the french fries were surprisingly salty. The alcoholic beverages were mostly priced at ¥880 or higher, served in thin glasses filled with ice, making them disappear in an instant. The taste wasn't great either, making them feel even more expensive. For first-timers, lunch might be a better option.
I went there for lunch. The lunch set is a great deal. We shared paella and sirloin steak between two people. Both were delicious, and it came with appetizers, so it's great value for money!
I had the hamburger and paella for lunch. The set comes with appetizers like salmon and potato salad. The food was good, but the portion size might be a bit small for men. The interior was more spacious than I expected from the exterior, and I was able to enjoy a comfortable meal.
I had some time before visiting the museum, so I stopped by for a late lunch. I ordered paella and sangria. The meal came with an appetizer, and I was able to enjoy the sangria while waiting for the paella, so the wait didn't feel long at all. The paella was delicious, with plenty of ingredients and served piping hot on a sizzling iron plate. It was fun to scrape the paella off the plate as I ate.
