I visited this restaurant for lunch on a weekday as I had some errands nearby. I arrived a little after 1:00 PM, and while there were about 10 other customers in the restaurant with around 30 seats, there was a steady stream of new customers throughout my visit, so it seems to be a popular place. This restaurant has been selected as one of the "100 Best Restaurants" on Tabelog. Lunch is only available as a ¥1,200 (tax included) buffet style, offering all-you-can-eat salad, four daily changing curries, rice, naan, and dessert. During busy hours, there is a 45-minute time limit. Payment is accepted via PayPay or transportation-related electronic money. Today's daily changing curries were chicken biryani, zucchini bean curry, potato and bean masala, and chicken meatball curry. As soon as I was seated, I was told to go get some curry. I grabbed everything except dessert and naan first, finished the salad, and then started with the chicken biryani. Hmm, it was a bit dry and lacked flavor. Next, I tried the zucchini bean curry. The zucchini was soft and the curry had a good amount of spice with a strong sourness. The spiciness level was around medium. The rice wasn't basmati rice, but regular rice, and it seemed like it had dried out in the pot, making it quite hard. Next, I tried the potato and bean masala. This one also had a strong spice flavor, and the beans were quite firm. Next, I tried the chicken meatball curry. The chicken meatballs were soft and the spice level was just right. So far, I thought the spice aroma was good, but overall, the curries lacked flavor. Now for the main event. I mixed everything together like a meal and took a bite. Hmm, there wasn't any synergistic effect on the flavors, and I think it's better to eat them separately... I had a few more servings and tried the naan as well. It was a thin naan without any fluffiness, and it was sweet. It was unusual for South Indian curry, but I felt the naan was a better match. I'll skip the tapioca milk and salad as they were just average. So, I finished everything. I was full. If you want to eat a lot of different curries, I recommend this place. The spice level is good, so you can enjoy it normally. Personally, I wasn't really looking to eat that much, and I was disappointed with the rice, the lack of flavor in the curries, and the absence of any synergistic effect on the flavors. Therefore, I don't think I'll be eager to visit again. So, my rating is 3 stars. Thank you for the meal.
Authentic! I was hoping for biryani, but they didn't have it. The lunch crowd was mostly foreigners (from the Indian subcontinent), and there was a child who was banging a fork against their plate, which was unpleasant. The seating is cramped and difficult to move around. The cod curry had a bit of a fishy smell that I found off-putting. The mutton curry is probably the safest bet, it's quite good. I think there are a lot of flavors that might be unfamiliar to Japanese people. The chapatis were delicious, crispy and chewy. The salad dressing was surprisingly good. It was empty when I arrived, but then customers started coming in and there was a line. (Mid-three-day weekend, Sunday, after 1 p.m.)
I found this place on Google Maps and visited it for the first time from Kansai. All the staff were of Indian origin, but the person who took our order spoke fluent Japanese. I ordered the non-vegetarian thali (I think it's called a meals) for ¥2100. There were many other options besides biryani and dosa, and I wanted to try them all, but my stomach couldn't handle it, so I had to sadly resist. I chose chicken and keema for the four curry options, and chapatis for the bread. Each curry had a medium level of spice and was incredibly flavorful. The rasam was quite spicy, so I cooled it down with yogurt. The rice was basmati, and it came with chicken tikka, vada, and salad, so I was completely full. They offered refills on the rice if I wanted. If this place were closer to home, I would come here every month.
This restaurant offers authentic South Indian cuisine, both in taste and atmosphere. I had the Venesterly set (¥2300). It includes three non-vegetarian curries, two vegetarian curries, rasam, vada, basmati rice, two pieces of chicken tikka, dessert, mini lassi, and a choice of naan, chapatti, or poori. The freshly fried poori was hot, chewy, and incredibly delicious. It's a very filling course.
I had lunch here. It's a buffet style, and you can eat as much naan, rice, and curry sauce as you like. It would be a good deal if they had dishes like tandoori chicken, but the price of 1200 yen is a bit high for the area around Kinshicho. Also, the rice wasn't saffron rice or freshly cooked, which was a bit disappointing. The mutton potato curry was delicious.
