【Nearest Station】 Asakusa Station, 3-minute walk 【Budget】 ¥1,000 - ¥2,000 【Overview】 One of Tokyo's most renowned soba (buckwheat noodle) restaurants, representing the city's soba culture! Established in 1913, it's known as one of the "Yabu Soba" brands. The soba itself is thin and firm, with a distinctive, fragrant flavor. The broth is also rich and savory, with a stronger emphasis on saltiness than sweetness, typical of the Edo-style soba. 【Menu】 - Tempura Soba (¥2,100) 【Notes】 I stumbled upon this restaurant, a Hundred Famous Stores, while taking a solo stroll. It was just before 12 pm, so I was able to get a table without waiting! It's definitely a place where you can dine alone. Warm soba and tempura are also popular menu items, and dishes like tempura seiro (cold soba with tempura) and zaru soba (cold soba) seem to be beloved by many. The atmosphere of the restaurant is truly special... The building and interior have been preserved from the time of its founding, exuding a nostalgic charm! The soba yu (buckwheat tea) at the end of the meal was a perfect way to warm up. It was a delicious meal. Thank you! ※Rating at the time of posting: 3.70
I lined up before the 11:00 opening on a holiday. Even arriving 10 minutes early, there were 30 people in line. They guide you in order, but the turnover is pretty fast. The grated yam soba is apparently famous, but the taste is average. It's expensive for just grated yam. The portion is small. The tempura soba has delicious small shrimp tempura. The broth is thick and the soy sauce is strong, but it's delicious. It's a must-try for soba lovers! There are also many foreign tourists. Adios 👍
This is a restaurant where you can enjoy traditional Japanese buckwheat noodles. I went there late for lunch, and it was almost full, mainly with foreign tourists. I was seated in a tatami room and ordered a mountain yam soba. The mountain yam soba arrived quickly, and the mountain yam was more generous than I expected, making me want to order extra noodles! (^◇^;) The flavor was strong, with a distinct traditional taste. The noodles also had a traditional feel, and I didn't really taste the buckwheat aroma. The mountain yam made for a smooth and refreshing experience, though! Overall, it wasn't bad, but I'm still curious why it's so popular. ← This is just my personal opinion.
The broth looked salty, but it was surprisingly just right. The noodles, as expected, were delicious. They're good enough to enjoy on their own.
A leisurely afternoon spent enjoying soba noodles has become a recent, quiet luxury for me. Today, I had lunch at Namiki Yabu, near the Kaminarimon Gate in Asakusa. I ordered the tempura soba. I enjoyed the tempura first with sake, and finished with the soba noodles. It was absolutely delicious, and I savored the elegant atmosphere. I am completely satisfied! It was truly delicious.
