I had the rye bread chicken sandwich for takeout, and it was packed with meat and vegetables, making it a hearty and healthy sandwich. It was very satisfying! ♡ It came with coleslaw and potato chips as side dishes.
This is my favorite sandwich cafe! The interior is bright and the owner is a lovely woman, making it a warm and welcoming oasis in Harajuku. And the sandwiches from this specialty sandwich shop are simply exquisite! You can choose from rye, sesame, and other bread options. I went with the mushroom sandwich. The combination of mushrooms, roasted ham, mashed potatoes, and crisp lettuce is absolutely delicious! You can buy sandwiches at convenience stores, but this was the first time I've had a sandwich this good in a long time, and I was blown away. ♡ The sandwiches are quite large, and usually you have to open your mouth wide to take a bite or risk spilling the ingredients, but the sandwiches at Cafe Masumiya are very easy to eat, even though they're substantial. They're also cut in half, making them the perfect size for women. The potato chips and coleslaw that come with the sandwich are also delicious and show a lot of care in their preparation! *While it's a sandwich shop, their clam chowder is a hidden gem. ♡ I could easily visit this place every day just to eat their sandwiches...!
I stopped by here when I wanted to have a little bit of blood coffee and work. There are many cafes in Harajuku, but sometimes there's nothing around depending on the event. This is the only cafe near a certain event venue, and it's a good thing because it's calm and relaxing. They have a wide variety of food options, which is great! I'll try them next time. The cappuccino has a lot of foam, making it very photogenic!
I visited around 10 am on a Monday. The store has a cute exterior and is located just off Takeshita Street. There are a few terrace seats, and even though it was scorching hot, some regulars seemed to be using them. The interior has a low ceiling and the air conditioning didn't seem to be working very well. There was one regular customer inside chatting with the staff, and I thought the atmosphere was more like a traditional coffee shop than a cafe. I ordered the morning sandwich set for 600 yen. The coffee and sandwich were just average. I feel that chain stores like Doutor offer better taste and value for money.
Before visiting Meiji Shrine for the first time this year, I decided to explore some breakfast spots near Harajuku. I was drawn to Cafe Masumiya, located just off Takeshita Street, and decided to give it a try. I figured it would be packed on the weekends, making it hard to get around. But since it was a weekday morning, Takeshita Street wasn't crowded at all, and I easily reached my destination. I ordered the popular Chicken & 5 Vegetable Sandwich. Is it unusual to find broccoli in a sandwich? It was quite a hefty sandwich, so I needed to use the paper they give you for burgers to eat it comfortably. It was great to get a good dose of fresh vegetables along with the chicken. The bread was nicely toasted and complemented the ingredients well. I appreciated their thoughtfulness in serving the sandwich quickly, knowing I was in a hurry. It was a great place. I can see why so many locals come here for breakfast. Thank you for the delicious meal!
