Just a 4-minute walk from Tsukiji Station! I visited "Mata Koi Ya Sōhonten" (Again Come Home Main Store)! This is a seafood donburi (rice bowl) specialty store run by "Megumi Food", the company behind Ginza's "Sushi Kibun" and "Okame" in Toyosu Market. Opened in November 2003 along the arcade outside Tsukiji Market, it quickly became a popular spot, attracting media attention. In 2011, they opened a branch at Haneda Airport's Terminal 1. Leveraging the strengths of their parent company, they offer high-quality seafood at a great price. Located near the Tsukiji end of the arcade, it's easily accessible, just a 5-minute walk from both Tsukiji Station and Tsukiji Market. After purchasing a ticket from the vending machine, I entered the store. The interior is casual and unpretentious, just like Tsukiji! There are 8 counter seats and 3 tables for 4 people, totaling 20 seats. Please note that only cash is accepted, credit cards and IC cards are not. After much deliberation over the wide variety of donburi, I decided on the "Nozomi Donburi" (Hope Donburi) for ¥2,200. It arrived within 5 minutes of handing over my ticket! This luxurious donburi, a variation of their signature "Kishō Donburi" (Rare Donburi) with added negitoro (tuna and fatty tuna), features 5 cuts of tuna: "chū ochi" (middle belly), "zu no niku" (head meat), "hoho niku" (cheek meat), "ago niku" (jaw meat), and negitoro. It was a truly satisfying experience to savor the carefully selected tuna. Open from 7 am, it's perfect for lunch, and even for a luxurious breakfast! There were so many other tempting donburi that I definitely want to visit again. Thank you for the delicious meal.
A natural tuna specialty store in Tsukiji with unbeatable value compared to other shops. The tuna is fresh and delicious, despite being affordable, so I've already been there 5-6 times. 😋 I'll definitely go back soon!
I ordered the "Naka-ochi" (middle part) "Ootoro" (fatty tuna) and "Chutoro" (medium fatty tuna) donburi (rice bowl). It was relatively small and the fish was a bit crunchy, which was a strange texture. Maybe it wasn't thawed properly? The taste was good, but the price-to-value ratio might not be great.
My second daughter requested a trip to Tsukiji Outer Market by bullet train 🚅. We took the first train of the day 🚅 and arrived at the market. From all the options, we chose this place. The prices were a bit touristy, but the food was delicious. *Compared to other shops, the prices seemed quite reasonable.* The service was also excellent. We were lucky because it wasn't very crowded when we were there. *There was a line when we left and when we came back.*
