## Wednesday, May 2024 (Rainy ☔️) **Onoya's Kashiwa Mochi** ¥900 **Premium Egg Pudding** ¥1000 **Extra Syrups** (White Custard Peanut, Red Melon) Arrived at 12:15, no customers ahead. It seems to be a bar space rental, the interior is dimly lit, with only a counter seating 9 people, and shelves of alcohol lining the walls. The menu has 7 regular items and 9 daily specials. I decided on the menu based on the Instagram announcement and ordered the Kashiwa Mochi first. The syrup was a strange, smooth and chewy Kashiwa Mochi! Combined with the sweet bean paste syrup, it truly felt like a Kashiwa Mochi turned into shaved ice ♡ Extra syrups are usually only one type, but they had a rainy day special where you could choose two, so I went with White Custard Peanut and Red Melon. The White Custard Peanut is one of the owner's top 10 favorite syrups out of the hundreds he's made, and knowing that, I couldn't resist trying it (laughs). It was a perfect blend of peanut and custard, incredibly delicious and surprising! Smooth yet rich, but not at all cloying... truly delicious ♡ For my second serving, I ordered the pudding. I was surprised by the bright yellow color when it arrived! Made with only egg yolks from Kato Poultry Farm, Madagascar vanilla, French butter, and as the menu states, "using only the finest ingredients, this is a special Sp version available for a limited time." It was truly a rich flavor that lived up to the description. The caramel sauce was also nicely bitter, my type of flavor ♡ However, I felt like the pudding (custard) could have used some whipped cream or banana (laughs). This shop offers unlimited refills of shaved ice! They start with less ice and more syrup, assuming you'll want refills, so I asked for a few refills of both ice and syrup. The staff will keep adding ice to your bowl until you tell them to stop (laughs). Since I was alone that day, I got refills in small portions, but if it were busy, I'd feel a bit hesitant to ask for refills so many times... And apparently, they keep this system even in the summer, but it must be quite time-consuming and difficult... I decided to limit my refills next time I go in the summer. Overall, it's a simple shop where you can enjoy the shaved ice itself, so I'd recommend it to those who prefer plain shaved ice rather than those who like shaved ice with lots of toppings and a heavy, rich flavor.

This place operates as a bar at night and a shaved ice shop during the day. I highly recommend their fresh lemon shaved ice! Squeezing your own lemon is a refreshing and soothing experience that revitalizes you after a long, hot day. They also offer additional ice, so be sure to ask the staff for more! ✨

I visited on Sunday afternoon, around 3:15 PM. There were about 5 groups ahead of me in line, but the wait was only about 15 minutes. The turnover was faster than I expected. The shop is set up like a bar, with about 10 seats. The smell of cigarettes was a bit noticeable, but I got used to it quickly. I ordered the classic "Strawberry Milk" shaved ice. The strawberry sauce was delicious!

The shop is located near Ueno Station, right next to Marui in Ameya-Yokocho.☝️ I ordered a strawberry milk. I learned about the delicious shaved ice here for the first time. It's definitely a great thing that you can get more ice if you have syrup left over. It was the perfect shop for a summer day.🍧🎐

I first visited in 2022. It was so delicious that I went back last year in 2023, and I went again this year in 2024. I've tried many different shaved ice places, and each one has its own unique character and they are all delicious, making it hard to choose a favorite. However, after visiting for the third time in a year, I realized that this place might have the best ice. Maybe it's the way they shave it. The feeling of the ice on my tongue and the texture when I put a fluffy chunk in my mouth felt different from other places. It was delicious. The syrup was also delicious, of course. It's also great that it's small but affordable and you can eat it quickly. ----------------------------- (Written in 2022) It was a scorching hot day in Ueno, and I was walking around when I got so hot that I searched for shaved ice on Google Maps. I found this place with high ratings. The shaved ice was fluffy and had no impurities. The strawberry syrup was also very delicious. It was small, so I ate it quickly, but it was very satisfying and lived up to its reputation. I think it was around 700 yen. The regulars all ordered two and enjoyed them in order, first strawberry and then lemon. They weren't open in the winter, but they are open again this year, so I will definitely go back and try two different syrups this time!
