This curry shop is located in the new building of Takashimaya Nihonbashi. It's usually not crowded, so you can usually get a table without waiting. I chose two types of curry: the curry of the day and the chicken butter masala curry. The curry of the day was a curry with eggplant and chicken, with a hint of ginger, and it was delicious. The butter masala curry was a tomato-based, mild butter masala curry, and it's apparently their most popular dish. The butter masala curry had very little tomato flavor and was just the right level of spiciness, making it a delicious curry. Personally, I didn't like the naan here. I would have preferred it to be a bit sweeter.
Old Delhi, an Indian bistro located in the Nihonbashi Takashimaya S.C. ✓ Recommended Points ・Enjoy North Indian cuisine! ・Experience the flavors of a Michelin-starred sister restaurant in a casual setting! ・Still a hidden gem, perfect for solo lunches or girls' gatherings! ✓ Menu Ordered ・Two Curry Set ¥1,680 (Two curries, naan or rice) ・Heartland ¥680 I visited around 1:30 PM on a weekend and was able to walk right in! They offer Indian bistro cuisine in the evenings and Indian curry for lunch! This time, I ordered the daily special curry, "Eggplant and Chicken Curry," and "Butter Chicken Curry." ✨ I just popped in, but the food was surprisingly delicious and I was impressed. The naan is so big it hangs over the plate. The daily special curry, in particular, had chunks of eggplant and was seasoned with spices to my liking. ✨ Upon researching, I found out that their sister restaurants in Ginza and Shiba Park are listed in the Michelin Guide, which makes sense. It's still a hidden gem, so go check it out while you can! ❤️ Thank you for the meal!
My colleague and I visited Old Delhi on a weekday evening with the goal of trying their Gorgonzola cheese naan. It was early in the evening, so there were only two other groups besides us (from what I overheard, they seemed to be foreigners). We ordered the Old Delhi Set (with shrimp butter masala and murgh sag for curry) and changed the naan to Gorgonzola cheese naan for ¥2,880. The menu described the Old Delhi Set as "a smaller size for women," but it looked pretty substantial at first glance... The Gorgonzola cheese naan, which was our main goal, was brought out uncut and the waiter cut it in front of us with a pizza cutter. The naan was the perfect thickness and size, and the Gorgonzola cheese flavor was strong and delicious! The cheese was evenly distributed, so every bite had a good Gorgonzola cheese flavor, which was great. I've been getting into Gorgonzola cheese naan lately, and one of my personal challenges is that I end up eating most of it on its own, so I basically just have the curry as soup... By the way, I ordered the curry spicy, and I personally found it to be the perfect level of spiciness for enjoying the flavor. Any spicier and it might be too much for me! The curry was delicious, the chicken tikka was delicious, and the portions were not small at all, so I was definitely full. I eat a bit more than the average woman, but even I was full.
The butter chicken curry is absolutely delicious! 👏👏 The naan is a bit too big though 😅 It's a very filling restaurant. If you're going with two people, I think adding an extra serving of sauce per person would be perfect 😊
This was my first time at this restaurant, but I used to frequent the location in Ginza 2-chome, Merusa, for their butter masala curry. Back then, I enjoyed watching them bake the naan and chicken in a tandoor oven. You can't see it here, but the deliciousness remains the same. I ordered a set with half curry of two kinds and naan, and added a mini salad. For the butter masala, you can choose between chicken and shrimp, but I went with chicken. The other curry was a vegetable curry with chunks of eggplant, pumpkin, and other vegetables. If you're going to eat curry with naan, the butter masala with its generous sauce is the way to go. But both were delicious! The mini salad was fresh and the dressing was to my liking, so I was satisfied. I heard they have a location in Ginza Exit Mel's, so maybe I'll go there next time. Thank you for the meal.
