This Kamayaki (grilled fish collar) was absolutely divine, with a volume worthy of being certified as a "Deca-Mori" (extra-large portion) gourmet experience. The perfect balance of size and perfectly cooked, fluffy texture made it a true masterpiece. I've found my new favorite lunch spot! Located just a minute's walk from Tsukiji Station in Tokyo, you'll find "Jige Tsukiji", a restaurant that truly lives up to its name. I visited during the weekday lunch hour and found a line of about four people. It took about 15 minutes to get a table. This time, I ordered the "Tuna Kama (Large) Set". After about 7-8 minutes, a large plate piled high with Kama arrived. The amount of Kamayaki was truly impressive, easily worth around 3000 yen at other restaurants. Not only was it massive, but the exterior was crispy while the inside was juicy and incredibly delicious! The outside had a sweet glaze, almost like a Kyushu soy sauce, adding another layer of flavor. I tried dipping it in grated radish, but the sheer volume was too much for me to finish. If you can eat three bowls of ramen, you might be able to conquer this dish. I encourage those confident in their appetite to give it a try! My friend ordered the sashimi set, which included a generous portion of tuna otoro (fatty tuna belly). It looked absolutely delicious. Next time, I'll try the set that includes sashimi. If you're in the neighborhood, be sure to check it out! ☺︎︎ Order List ・Tuna Kama (Large) Set 1400 yen ・ ・ ♪ About Me I love trying out different restaurants, whether it's places I've found on Google Maps or Tabelog, or recommendations from friends. I'd love to share my experiences on Instagram, but I'm a bit lazy about it. @k.gourmeet I post on Google Maps and Tabelog, so feel free to check them out.
A truly impressive tuna cheek grilled set meal! It's so voluminous that it feels like a food challenge menu. Located a 3-minute walk from Tsukiji Station, I visited "Bincho-Tan Hiyaki Jige Tsukiji Store." I arrived 25 minutes before opening on a weekday, and there was no line. I was able to enter as soon as they opened. At opening time, there was a line of about 30 people, and the restaurant was full as soon as it opened, with a line of about 10 people. I ordered the Tuna Cheek (Large) Charcoal Grilled Set Meal for ¥1,400. They started grilling it before opening, and it was served in less than 5 minutes. It came with a small dish of hijiki seaweed and miso soup. There were three huge tuna cheek grills on a large plate, each one large enough to be a meal on its own. When you take a picture of the set meal, the rice bowl looks like a teacup. The freshly grilled tuna cheek was so tender that it fell off the bone, and it was juicy and delicious with a good amount of fat. The accompanying grated daikon radish was a perfect match. Each tuna cheek must have been at least 200g, and by the time I finished the second one, it had cooled down and the fat started to feel a bit heavy, which is a drawback of the large volume. I was completely full, but I enjoyed it until the very last bite.
We visited with our family of three around 12:30 PM on August 14, 2024. The restaurant is located a short distance from the Tsukiji Outer Market, down a side street off the main road, so there are hardly any tourists. We were visiting from Osaka and were unsure what to eat for lunch. A colleague recommended this place, so we decided to give it a try. They have four lunch options, all for ¥1400. As others have mentioned, the tuna collar is incredibly generous in size. The sashimi and chicken were also delicious. It's truly a hidden gem. By 1:00 PM, they were already sold out. The staff's attentiveness and thoughtfulness were outstanding. We'd love to visit for dinner sometime. The food was absolutely delicious. Thank you for the wonderful meal.
I stumbled upon this place while wandering through a back alley and was immediately drawn in by the impressive display of tuna belly. The tuna belly was perfectly fatty and the sashimi, grilled over charcoal, was bursting with flavor. It was the perfect pairing for sake. I enjoyed one side of the tuna belly with condiments and had the other side made into hand rolls and a spicy tuna dip. The staff was friendly and attentive, making for a truly satisfying experience. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone.
An awe-inspiring Bluefin Tuna Special! The combination of grilled tuna and tuna belly sashimi is simply too much for one bowl of rice! This is a place I'll definitely be returning to regularly.
