I stumbled upon this restaurant while walking through Takeshita Street! It's located in the basement, so there's a sense of excitement about where you're being taken. It's a hidden gem, and it might be hard to find! The seating capacity is quite small, so there's often a line. I ordered the oyakodon (chicken and egg rice bowl), and it was incredibly rich and delicious! You can watch the chefs prepare the food from the counter. However, the chefs don't wear masks, so it might be a bit concerning in terms of hygiene. If you're concerned about this, be aware. 😌
The restaurant is located in the basement, but the entrance has a stylish atmosphere. The interior is clean and comfortable. I ordered the Oyakodon (chicken and egg rice bowl). It comes with an egg on top, which is a great value. I like raw eggs, but sometimes I don't like the lingering egg smell afterwards. I ate it with that in mind. The yolk was firm and sweet, and there was no egg smell after eating. Just a suggestion, but the bowl... I thought it was a pattern, but the edge of the bowl was chipped. Too bad! The bowl also enhances the delicious Oyakodon.
Most of the staff were foreigners. I think there were only one or two Japanese staff members. I ordered the oyakodon, which seemed to be their signature dish. It was served very quickly, and the flavor was strong and delicious. The portion size was just right. Since it's in the basement, cell phone reception is poor. They only accept cash, which might be inconvenient for some.
I had dinner with my colleagues after work. I saw a wide range of reviews, from one to five stars, but my experience was positive. The food and service were both excellent. The restaurant is newly opened, bright, and clean. The owner, or perhaps a senior staff member, was very friendly and humorous. Some might find him a bit too close for comfort, but we found him to be friendly and enjoyable. The food was delicious and well-suited to the drinks. While lunch seems to receive a lot of negative reviews, perhaps there's a difference between the lunch and dinner menus. The prices are a bit on the higher side, but it's a place I'd definitely like to visit again.
