When it comes to Western-style restaurants in Nihonbashi, this is the place to go. Established in 1931, this long-standing establishment features a casual restaurant on the first floor and a more formal Western-style dining experience on the second floor. This time, I enjoyed a glass of wine on the first floor, accompanied by the restaurant's signature dandelion omelet and a salmon marinade. The salmon, with its smoky aroma and salty flavor, paired perfectly with the slightly spicy radishes and the refreshing acidity of the white wine. Next up was the main attraction, the dandelion omelet. The half-cooked egg omelet, rich in buttery flavor, sits atop chicken rice. While this dish is now common in many places, it originated here, and it's still as delicious as ever. The menu is extensive and offers a wide variety of options, but I highly recommend starting with the omelet.

Taimeiken is known for its Western-style cuisine, but it's also a renowned ramen shop. It was featured in the 1984 edition of Bungei Bunko as a Tokyo ramen establishment. The review described it as "a clear, consommé-like soy sauce soup with all the impurities and fat removed, thin noodles with a firm bite, authentic char siu roasted in a charcoal oven or an oven, thoroughly braised bamboo shoots, green onions (and seaweed) for a touch of color. This is what was known as "Yanagi-men" or "China soba" in the pre-war era, and what we now call Tokyo ramen." In 1984, it cost 500 yen. It's truly remarkable that this flavor is still available today. Delicious, thank you.

I finally went to Taimeiken for the first time. For my first visit, I went for the classic trio: the Tanpopo omelet rice, borscht, and coleslaw. I was hoping to squeeze in a ramen after, but the omelet rice was surprisingly filling, so I had to pass. The omelet rice itself was incredibly rich and delicious. The borscht and coleslaw, both priced at 50 yen each, were generous portions. The coleslaw dressing, in particular, was a refreshing blend of vinegar and lemon, making it a delightful side dish. The menu is extensive, so I'm eager to try other dishes on my next visit.

I had the paper-thin cutlet curry. The omelet rice and ramen were as good as everyone says. I decided to try something different. Wow, amazing, delicious! The cutlet was excellent, and the curry had plenty of meat. 👍 What should I try next? I'm excited. Thank you for the meal 😋

I visited for the first time since the shop was renovated. It has a lovely terrace overlooking the river, and the atmosphere has become chic. I ordered my usual favorites: the curry, coleslaw, and borscht. It's always delicious and makes me feel happy and energized. I definitely want to go back soon.
