This is Toyo, a classic Japanese-style coffee shop in Nihonbashi. Just a few dozen meters from the Nihonbashi intersection, you'll find Restaurant Toyo, a long-established Western-style restaurant that has been in business for over 50 years. In the same corner, there are companies and stores with a long history dating back to the Edo period, such as the Kokubu Group headquarters and Eitaro Sohonpo, making this a place in Nihonbashi that retains a traditional atmosphere. As you ascend the classic spiral staircase, you are greeted by a spacious Western-style dining area. Bright sunlight streams in through the large windows overlooking Chuo-dori, illuminating the interior. In addition to this large space, the restaurant also has private rooms that can accommodate dozens of people for dining.

A long-established district with numerous new shops popping up. Lunchtime at a cafe is a time for relaxation for working people. Cafe TOYO is a Western-style cafe with a history of over 70 years. Their "German-style rice" with chicken and cheese has been a signature dish since its founding.

This is a Western-style restaurant that feels like it used to be in the restaurant district of a department store back in the day. I visited for lunch on a weekday. It has a retro atmosphere and is very calming. 😅 There are plenty of seats and the turnover is fast, so I was able to get a table quickly. I ordered the dry curry with shrimp fry! It has a gentle flavor. ^^ The staff are relatively diverse in age… and everyone is very kind. This time I wanted to eat a lot, so I ordered the large plate curry, but next time I want to try their classic Napolitan!

I visited on April 27, 2024. The website stated that the restaurant would be closed during Golden Week, but it was open, which was a lucky break. *Note: The cafe on the first floor only sold cakes.* Since I arrived shortly after opening, I was seated by the window. I enjoyed my meal while watching the cityscape of Nihonbashi and the ongoing urban development projects. The prices were reasonable, and the food was delicious. However, the restaurant filled up quickly, so I recommend arriving as soon as it opens.

A lunch at TOYO in Nihonbashi, featuring their special Toyo bento box! Nihonbashi Toyo TOYO Nihonbashi Coredo-mae Store The second floor serves Western-style food, while the first floor has a light meal cafe and sweets. The cafe on the first floor is also a restaurant. If you go during the early hours on weekdays, it's not crowded and you can see the interior well. The atmosphere on the second floor might feel like a cafeteria. This is a modern-day Nihonbashi institution established in 1966. It's quite straightforward. The B lunch is famous for its shrimp fry, but they also have an A lunch. Toyo special bento box - ¥840 It changes daily. It's a typical business lunch. Chicken hamburger Healthy hamburger with no greasy feel. The interior on the first floor is colorful and cute. It's probably a Western-style food and cafe that's stayed true to the old Nihonbashi style.
