My lunch break during work in Shibuya always ends up being right before closing time. I usually rush over, only to find that everything is sold out. This time, I managed to get in line just before they ran out, after waiting for 20 minutes and 30 seconds! The shop is quite small! It's great that they take your order while you're waiting in line, because the food comes out quickly once you're seated. The style is a dome-shaped mound of white rice topped with keema curry, and then curry sauce is poured over it. This sauce is incredibly flavorful, packed with the sweetness of vegetables. It's a very rich and savory flavor. I can see why everyone says it's fruity! Then there's the keema curry, which is full of meaty flavor and spiced just right, adding another layer of complexity. Wow, this is good! The owner mentions on the sign that they arrived at this recipe after trying many different curries, and it's truly a Pakumori original! I'm completely hooked on the depth of flavor. I want to eat it again, but I don't want to run into another sold-out situation, so I'll go earlier next time!
## Update on June 22nd (Sat): I had the "Poteso-yaki Cheese Curry" with a large serving size and a set. The service was excellent, and the cheese was piled on so high that it created a wall between the cheese and the curry. The curry and the rich cheese blend together perfectly, making it delicious. It takes time to prepare, so it takes a while to be served, but I think it's worth it for cheese lovers. Also, the mango lassi is delicious. --- **Initial Visit Comments** I visited about 30 minutes after the store opened on a weekend. There were about 6-7 people waiting outside. The store seems to be run by a husband and wife. The interior is a long, narrow space with a cooking area and a counter with 4 seats on the right side as you enter, and 5 seats on the opposite wall, for a total of only 9 seats. However, the speed of food service and the pace at which customers eat is relatively fast, so the turnover rate seemed to be relatively good. Most people leave within 20-30 minutes. This time, I had the "Daikichi Curry" with a large serving size and a set. The set comes with a small salad and a half-size lassi. The curry is a type I've never seen before, with dry curry on top of rice, and then a curry sauce poured over it. The dry curry has a unique flavor that I can't quite put my finger on, but it's different from the dry curry I've had at other places. The taste might be divisive. However, when you eat it with the curry sauce, the flavors of the dry curry and the sauce blend together beautifully. The chicken karaage and the cut daikon radish are also delicious. At first, I wondered if daikon radish would go well with curry, but it's cut into small pieces, making it easy to eat and providing a nice texture. It doesn't feel out of place as a curry topping. It also somehow makes your stomach feel refreshed and helps you eat more. On the other hand, the chicken karaage adds volume to the dish. It's a bit different from karaage, with a nice aroma and tender meat that's well-seasoned. It's delicious enough to eat on its own, but it's even better when eaten with the curry. By the way, if you order a large serving size, they seem to give you more curry sauce as well. The staff are also very friendly, and their attentiveness to customers conveys their kind nature.
I had the chicken topping at Pakupaku Morimori Poteso. The chicken was served separately on a side plate, but it also came with gravy. Pakupaku Morimori Curry has both a dry curry section and a regular curry section, both of which were very delicious. The default spice level is not very spicy, and you can adjust it yourself with chili powder and other spicy seasonings. The toppings, especially the thinly sliced sauteed potatoes (Poteso's Pote), were a perfect match for the curry and very tasty.
Pak2 Mori2 Karaage (Tender Egg, Sausage) Sunday, before 5 PM. No line. Two groups of four people behind me. Located on Dogenzaka in Shibuya. I was thinking, "This roux is fruity and rich..." when I had already eaten a third of it. It's delicious. The keema is like finely ground, moist tuna flakes. These two curries are great mixed together, and even better when you break the soft-boiled egg and mix it in. The fried chicken-style karaage, sausage, and all the toppings are a perfect match for the curry. The staff are friendly and helpful, even giving me tips on how to eat it. It's a popular, kind restaurant. Thank you for the meal.
It's been about 7 years since my last visit, so it was quite a while. I ordered the vegetable curry with sausage topping, and it was even more delicious than I remembered. I thought the fruity sweetness of the curry sauce went really well with the easy-to-eat fried vegetables. And the sausage topping was delicious too!
