A restaurant serving local dishes from Yakumo Town, Hokkaido. I was a bit disappointed that I couldn't choose my own dishes because it was a course meal for a banquet. However, for a ¥4,000 course (with all-you-can-drink), the food was decent and I was satisfied. Considering it includes all-you-can-drink, the value for money is excellent. The manager, I think, recommended a restaurant in the same building when I was struggling to find a place for our second round of drinks. It was very helpful.
I had lunch here. It was a tatami room with a kotatsu (a sunken hearth with a table and a blanket over it), where you take off your shoes. However, the air conditioning wasn't very effective, and it was hot. I ordered the charcoal-grilled mackerel set for 1,000 yen. It was delicious. The soup, which seemed to be arajiru (a soup made with fish bones and vegetables), was also tasty, although it didn't actually have any ara (fish bones) in it.
A local izakaya (Japanese pub) that specializes in regional ingredients. The sweetness of the negiyaki (green onion pancake) is very memorable. Also, the pork steak has a very impactful appearance. The Nagatsuka Spicy Fry, the fish itself is a bland white meat, but the bread crumbs and spice chips on the outside are crunchy, making it the best junk food 😭 It's delicious. Hokkaido Yakumo-cho's sake, Konya Yakumo Junmai Daiginjo → It's refreshing and easy to drink. Kinjyu, a doburoku (unfiltered sake) highball → It's fun to be able to enjoy local things you don't know well, lol. Other than that, they have a selection of sake from all over Japan, and it's quite enjoyable to have with the food! I recommend it.
A Delicious Hokkaido Izakaya 🏮 True to its name, this izakaya allows you to savor the flavors of Yakumo Town in Hokkaido. From sashimi to shishamo (smelt), milk egg omelet, whole grilled soft white leeks, and homemade potato salad... Everything is delicious. The assorted sashimi, in particular, features Hokki clams, scallops, octopus, salmon, and botan shrimp, offering excellent value for money. Ending with a clay pot rice leaves you feeling satisfied. It's a lively place, making it a great spot for casual dining!
This restaurant is known for its generous portions. You can even get free refills on rice. I've been here a few times, and even after 12 pm, I've always been able to find a seat. The mixed fried platter is a must-try. The food is freshly fried and crispy, with a satisfyingly large portion. Everything was delicious! If you're planning on having a hearty meal with rice refills, you might find the amount of tartar sauce and gravy a bit on the small side. The seafood bowl is also a great choice. The amount of seafood is just right, and you can finish it off by adding a piece of grilled mackerel with sesame seeds (the sesame seeds are cooked) and pouring some broth over it. However, the broth was a bit lukewarm. Rice is free-flow, and you can also enjoy unlimited raw eggs. The soup seems to change daily. You pay in cash as soon as you order, so it's best to have a 1000 yen bill ready. I haven't tried everything on the menu yet, but I'd love to come back for dinner. One minor thing I noticed was that the teapot was a bit old, and the handle was thin and unstable, making it a bit difficult to pour without worrying about it breaking. Also, the number of raw eggs provided wasn't enough for everyone at our table. However, it wasn't a major issue as the eggs didn't spill, and they brought us more eggs right away. The service was also excellent, so it wasn't a big deal!
