I went there for lunch on a Tuesday during summer vacation. It was close to 2 PM, but it was full and I had to wait a bit. We ordered an omelet, beef stew, curry rice, spaghetti Napolitan, and a parfait. The food came out quickly. The dishes were served on plates that were at least 1.5 times larger than those you'd find at a regular restaurant. The presentation was fantastic, and the taste was amazing. There are so many menu items, it's hard to choose. They accepted PayPay.
Day 8 of my Tokyo trip ③, September 3, 2024. Walking from Ueno Toshogu Shrine, I came across a shop with an old-world charm… I cautiously (lol) approached it and decided to go in. It seems to be a famous establishment dating back to the Meiji era, and the staff were very kind and gentle. The lunch was a true Western-style meal ✨, and it was delicious. I had been eyeing the Panda Plate 🐼 on the menu since I saw it, and even though it was quite a large portion, I had to order it. The ice cream and mousse were cute and delicious, and I might have been grinning to myself while I ate it🧡. Both "Umekawa-tei" which I visited recently and "Seiyoken" here retain a wonderful old-world atmosphere, and Ueno is truly a wonderful place.
A historic Western-style restaurant. The restaurant offers great value lunch menus and is perfect for a relaxing meal or tea. While the clientele tends to be older, it's not intimidating to enter. The food is classic and well-prepared, with attention to detail. I think it's a taste that all generations will enjoy. I was looking forward to the terrace seating, but it was closed for the day due to the summer heat. However, I highly recommend the terrace seating.
I visited this place after about 20 years and ordered their classic Hayashi Rice. The meat was so tender it fell apart, and it was the same consistently delicious taste you can only find here. However, I felt it was even more delicious than I remembered from my first visit, perhaps because the initial impression was so strong. My friend who came with me was surprised by how delicious it was, so I guess it's probably my taste buds that have changed, not the restaurant. 😅 I'll definitely stop by again. 👍
I revisited "Ueno Seiyo Ken" because I couldn't forget the taste of the beef fillet steak I had there. It was incredibly tender and flavorful, making it a delicious treat even for older folks (laughs). The 20-minute wait was definitely worth it! I was completely satisfied!
