While Paul's bread might be a bit pricey, I love it because the flavor and texture are right up my alley. I especially enjoy the "Mix" sandwich, where the ingredients really enhance the bread's deliciousness. If you're a fan of buttery, moist croissants, you should definitely give them a try!
This bakery is located on the 'Meat Alley' side of the Daimaru Tokyo basement's 'Hoppe Town' food court. Their croissants are large, with a crispy texture and a strong buttery flavor. This makes them quite expensive (356 yen). If you're looking for a rich, buttery croissant, this is the place for you. Their canelé is also delicious (limited-time Royal Milk Tea flavor, 399 yen).
○Croissant Sandwich ■Post-Meal Impression The surface is fluffy with a sweet wheat flavor and buttery taste. I took out a croissant from Paul, which doesn't have any stores in Nagoya. I had it for breakfast the next morning. The croissant has a fluffy surface, with a sweet wheat flavor followed by a rich, almost-but-not-quite buttery taste. The sandwich was impressive with its cream cheese and juicy tomatoes. The croissant with cheese had crispy cheese on the surface and a thick white sauce and ham inside. It was a delicious meal.
The bakery "PAUL Daimaru Tokyo Store" is located directly connected to the Yaesu Underground Entrance of Tokyo Station. I visited on a weekday around 6 pm and there were about 5 people waiting, but I was able to check out quickly. I bought a kouign amann for 334 yen. The kouign amann had a crispy surface and was not only sweet but also had a slightly bitter caramel flavor, which was delicious. The Danish part was full of buttery flavor and was very tasty. I enjoyed it until the very end.
I took out a French bread and croissant sandwich to eat. [¥550-¥626 per piece] (April 2023) First of all, the size of the sandwich is small and expensive. The bread and ingredients are well-balanced, but the crust of the bread is prominent and it's hard to feel the texture and flavor of the inside. It's a personal preference, but I think it needs to be the diameter of a baguette. Also, the price is high for this size and amount of ingredients. The croissant is a moist type. It might be difficult to make a crispy type, but I was expecting a crispy one, so I felt it was a bit underwhelming.
