It's located on the 5th floor of Shibuya Hikarie. It was a Saturday and a very hot day. It was past lunchtime and there were about 12 people in line, but we didn't have to wait as long as I thought. The matcha was as delicious as I expected. It came with mochi balls and red bean paste. The shaved ice was fluffy and didn't give me a brain freeze. The black honey one was popular and the limited-time offer was so well-received that it was extended. I was lucky because I wanted to try it! It had a sesame baked good (like a thin cookie) on top, and when you lifted the cookie, there was matcha ice cream underneath. As you ate your way through it, there was a hojicha jelly? inside, which was a nice change of pace and a good accent! I enjoyed it again. This set comes with a drink, so I had warm matcha, but the bowl was large and the amount was quite small, so it got cold quickly, which was a shame.
I stumbled upon this place after a light meal. I ordered the 'Kagura' set, which is exclusive to this shop, and was able to try a variety of Kyoto sweets that I don't usually eat. It was an unexpectedly luxurious experience. The shop is filled with beautiful dishes and chopsticks, making it a pleasure to browse. There were many people enjoying shaved ice, and they all looked so happy. This place would definitely be a hit with overseas guests.
I visited on Sunday at 11 am and it was completely empty! It was so relaxing and the atmosphere was amazing. We ended up chatting for two hours. The premium shaved ice and matcha were absolutely delicious ♡
Unable to bear the heat, I craved shaved ice and decided to visit this place. 🍧 ◉ Cha-niwa Zenkashoin Shibuya Hikarie • Zen no Koori Uji Kin-toki Set - ¥1,760 (tax included) • Kyoto Bancha (roasted green tea) + Condensed Milk Adding condensed milk was definitely the right choice! ✨ The red bean paste was subtly sweet, the matcha was delicious, and the shaved ice was perfectly balanced. 🍧 It seems to be a seasonal special, and many people were enjoying it! It was absolutely delicious. The warm Kyoto Bancha was also a treat. 🍵🫖 Thank you for the wonderful meal.
This restaurant is located on the 5th floor of Shibuya Hikarie, tucked away in the back. Even from afar, it exudes an air of sophistication, with a calm and mature ambiance. The interior is predominantly black, and despite visiting on a weekday afternoon around 4 pm, it was quite crowded. The counter seats in the back offer a stunning view of the Shibuya cityscape through floor-to-ceiling windows, bathed in sunlight. This time, I was there for the shaved ice, so I ordered immediately. ★ Zen no Koori Hojicha (Roasted Green Tea) - ¥1,760 ★ Zen no Koori Uji Kin-Toshi (Uji Green Tea with Sweet Red Bean) - ¥1,760 We ordered both and shared them. Each comes with a drink set for ¥880, making it a pretty good deal. I chose the Kyoto Bancha (hot) for my drink. The shaved ice arrived in less than 10 minutes! Wow! It was luxurious! It had a sophisticated, grown-up vibe. Both came with red bean paste and ice cream. The hojicha one also included warabi mochi (Japanese jelly). The rich, deep flavor of the hojicha, the fluffy cream, and the occasional bite of ice cream were all delightful. The warabi mochi was chewy and delicious. This single shaved ice was a delightful combination of various Japanese sweets, offering a refreshing and delicious cafe experience. The Kyoto Bancha was authentic, with a strong, bitter taste, perfect for a mature cafe setting. They accept multiple cashless payment methods. Thank you for the delicious meal!
