Established in the late Taisho era, this traditional Japanese confectionery shop continues to uphold the taste of handmade sweets. Their signature dorayaki (a sweet pancake filled with bean paste) is a perennial top-ranked favorite, consistently earning a spot on the Tabelog Sweets TOKYO 100 Best list since 2018 and also being selected for the Tabelog Japanese Sweets and Dessert Shops TOKYO 100 Best in 2023. I visited on a Thursday right after opening and waited about 30 minutes to purchase. I ordered dorayaki (black bean paste and white bean paste, each ¥430), and Matsukaze (¥320). This dorayaki has been my all-time favorite since I first tried it in middle school. It's incredibly delicious, with a fluffy, soft texture. The balance of the bean paste is perfect, and the white bean paste is made with hand-picked white beans, which is a highlight. While the recent price increases have made this dorayaki seem twice as expensive as you might expect, it's still worth every penny. The Matsukaze also has a nostalgic flavor with its rich brown sugar-flavored dough.
This is a restaurant that has been selected as one of the "Tabelog Hundred Famous Shops." I visited in September 2024. I arrived on a Saturday at a little past 12:00 PM. As it's a popular shop, there was a line even outside. After waiting in line outside for about 25 minutes, I was able to make my purchase. I bought the Kameju Kuri Monaka (Chestnut Mochi) for 400 yen. After taking it home, I took a bite! It was delicious! This makes me want tea! The wait is long, so I want to go again when I have time. I wonder what I'll buy next. Thank you for the meal. *Cash only payment is accepted.

【My Summer 2024 Food Diary - Episode 11】 ~Kamejū Dora-yaki~ August 31, 2024 When I told my friend I was staying in Asakusa before heading to Tokyo, they recommended Kamejū's dorayaki. The day before, I stopped by before visiting Sensō-ji Temple in the evening, but it was a popular item and they were sold out. I went back the next day and lined up before the store opened, and I was able to buy one. The dough was fluffy like a pancake, a new texture for dorayaki! It was delicious! (^o^)
