This ramen shop always pops up when you search for "Shibuya Ramen." I went there on a Saturday evening around 7 pm. It seems like they have a second floor. I was lucky to get in right after a group left, so there was almost no wait. I ordered the Moyashi Wonton Men. It was packed with moやし, wonton, egg, and char siu, making it a huge portion! I flipped the noodles like you would at a Jiro ramen shop. I noticed a savory flavor and realized it was from the crispy sakura shrimp, onion, and octopus in the broth. I later realized that I ordered dumplings even though I had wontons, haha! The dumplings were also large and very satisfying. Personally, I prefer a fish-bone and pork bone broth, so this flavor, while delicious, wasn't exactly my taste. I'll try the fried rice next time. All the staff were foreign, I think? They were all bright and cheerful, creating a very pleasant atmosphere.
We went to Yoyogi Park to see an event and decided to have some Chinese food for lunch. We didn't know it was a popular place! It was Sunday afternoon, and there was a line of about 10 people. But they took orders beforehand, so we got in pretty quickly! The char siu in the char siu ramen was the old-fashioned kind, firm and not melt-in-your-mouth. The soup was delicious! The five-flavor wonton ramen came with the wontons served separately, which was a nice touch for wonton lovers!
I had the bean sprout wonton noodles, large size. The soy sauce soup with fried onions, chewy thick noodles, large, chewy, smooth wontons, and stir-fried pork, chives, and bean sprouts were all delicious. I forgot to order the soft-boiled egg topping. On October 28th, I had the five-flavor wonton noodles and dumplings. The salt flavor was also delicious. The thick noodles, the always hot soup, the abundance of vegetables, and the old-fashioned wontons were all fantastic. The dumplings were also juicy and delicious.
When it comes to ramen in Shibuya, "Kiraku" is one of the first names that comes to mind. Their signature dish is "Moya-shita Wantan" (noodle soup with bean sprouts and wontons), but recently, "Chashu Wantan" (noodle soup with pork and wontons) has also become quite popular. A line forms before the shop opens, so you'll need to wait in line before you can eat. While you're waiting, they'll take your order, so make sure you decide what you want beforehand. Once you're inside, your food will be served within a minute or two. After you finish, you can pay at the entrance. The staff is so efficient that they'll have nothing to do but wait for customers to leave. So, after you're done eating, please leave promptly to make room for the people waiting. The wontons were absolutely delicious, and the combination of bean sprouts, noodles, and soup was perfect. I even finished every last drop of the broth. Thank you for the meal.
I saw a picture of their ramen and decided to give it a try. Overall: A classic, old-school ramen shop. Ramen: I ordered the wonton ramen. The aroma of the burnt scallions was intoxicating, making my mouth water. The wontons had a nice chewy texture. Gyoza: The juicy filling exploded in my mouth when I took a bite. The flavor of the filling was also delicious. Service: The staff was foreign, but they were friendly and easy to communicate with. Both the male and female staff were great. They were quick to refill my water when it got low. The service wasn't overbearing, and they maintained a good distance. It was a classic example of the kind of service you'd expect at a local Chinese restaurant. It's a place where guys can come to eat a hearty meal and leave. As a long-standing establishment in Shibuya, I will continue to support them.
