Perhaps because it was the three-day weekend after New Year's, there was a longer line than usual. I really like their green shiso-flavored ohagi, which is refreshing and light, unlike other ohagi. This time, I also bought some spring-themed sweets like flower-shaped mochi, dango, and sakura mochi.
It's hard to choose a favorite because they're all so delicious! 🍡 While I'm not particularly a huge fan of red bean paste, I do crave it sometimes, and when I do, I always come here. For a while, I was coming here 2-3 times a week to buy treats for myself and gifts 🎁, but they always have new items based on the season, so I end up trying them all out! 😂 They have a strong sense of seasonality, so it's become one of my ways to enjoy the changing seasons. 🌸 It makes me look forward to the passage of time. Thanks to that, it's become a must-visit whenever I go to Mitsukoshi. 🥰 It's also a very popular gift choice. 🤍
I bought some 'Desse Jizo Rokpo-yaki' (a type of Japanese confectionery). It has a cute face! 😊 It seems like it will bring good luck. 🎵 The red bean paste filling is so sweet. It would make a great souvenir.
Established in 1886, "Sentaro" is a renowned wagashi (Japanese confectionery) shop in Kyoto, famous for its dorayaki (a Japanese pancake filled with sweet bean paste). I visited the "Sentaro Mitsukoshi Ginza Store", located just a minute's walk from Ginza Station. Arriving around 11:30 am on a weekday, there were three people waiting in line. I was able to check out quickly. I purchased a "Dorayaki Sentaro" for 195 yen. The dorayaki was delicious, with a fluffy, slightly sweet skin, the aroma of red bean paste, and a rich, flavorful filling. The combination of the skin and the filling was perfect. I enjoyed it until the very last bite.
I highly recommend the "Ohagi (つぶあん)" and "Gozonji Mochi", both signature items. The filling in both is subtly sweet and delicious. The "Ohagi" features mochi rice infused with shiso leaves, which adds a wonderful aroma and complements the sweetness of the filling. The "Gozonji Mochi" is filled with generous amounts of "つぶあん", which will surely satisfy any fan of this type of bean paste.
