During the day, they offer a variety of freshly baked breads. While a bit pricey, they sell delicious breads and quiches. It's a great place to indulge in a little luxury with their jams and teas.
While the selection isn't overwhelmingly extensive compared to other locations, you can find most of what you need. They have a good variety of breads, cakes, and even takeout cafe options. What truly impressed me about this store was the incredibly kind and supportive way the experienced staff treated the new employees. In other retail settings, I've often witnessed senior employees being condescending and harsh towards new hires, especially at the register, saying things like "Didn't I already tell you that?" But here, there's no trace of that kind of aggressive, sports-team-like training. (As a side note, I personally dislike that kind of atmosphere and find it unpleasant to see at the register. If it gets too much, I sometimes blurt out, "That's scary!"... but I digress.) Anyway, just that alone made me truly admire the employees here, feeling they truly live up to the DEAN & DELUCA name. All the other staff members are also very friendly and welcoming, making the shopping experience enjoyable. It's not just their customer service, but their genuine personalities that make this place so special.
I ordered the chocolate mint series for takeout. They wrapped it carefully, and thanks to the ice pack they provided for the Frappuccino-like drink, I was able to bring it home. I will definitely use them again.
I bought an iced cafe latte this morning, but the edge of the lid was cracked and when I took a sip, it spilled all over my clothes and bag. It was a disaster! You can see the white edge through the crack, so there might be a problem with the lid and cup specifications.
Given its location, I think many people stop by after work. The lunch boxes are a bit underwhelming, as they can't raise the price without losing customers. The salads are a few different types, but they're always the same. I'd like to buy some bread, but it's hard to ask the busy staff while waiting in line. Plus, I hesitate to buy anything that's been sitting out, for hygiene reasons. I'd buy bread if it was pre-packaged. The store is small, so they need to find ways to improve the layout.
