Akamutsu is another name for nodoguro, while kuromutsu remains kuromutsu. This isn't a foreshadowing of what I'm about to talk about. We had a summer project wrap-up party at an izakaya in Tsukiji. It's not clear what exactly was wrapped up, but we didn't see any fireworks this year, so it wouldn't hurt to celebrate once in a while. It was a set course, and as the name suggests, it was a nodoguro-centric place. The cooking method was called 'genshi-yaki,' but the finished dish was served, so I didn't know the process. However, the fish was delicious, not just the nodoguro. The freshness was exceptional. They say there's a shortage, but the quality is good, or maybe the sourcing is excellent, because the taste was truly impressive. Midway through, we were served some squid sashimi, which wasn't on the course menu. I mentioned I wanted to eat some squid, so the person who made the reservation asked the restaurant for it. It was so smooth and tender, incredibly delicious. The course also included Kuroge Wagyu zabuton, for some reason. It was a plan to stuff us with fish and meat. The quality of the meat was as good as the fish. Seeing Satsuma beef and Satsuma-age, I understood why the food was so delicious. By the way, what color is the throat of a kuromutsu? --------------------------- Satsuma Kuroge Wagyu Zabuton Charcoal-Grilled and Nodoguro Genshi-Yaki Course Mon-Fri 17:00 - 23:00 L.O. 22:15 Sat 17:00 - 22:30 L.O. 21:45 Closed: Sun & Holidays ---------------------------

It was great to be back after a long time. I ordered the all-you-can-drink course, and every dish was excellent. The bonito sashimi was particularly thick and didn't disappoint compared to the red sea bream. The grilled dishes were truly impressive! I ordered five different shochu varieties in succession, and the staff were efficient and friendly. No wonder this place is always busy. Thank you for the delicious meal!
Nestled in a back alley just a short walk from Tsukiji Station and also accessible from Higashi-Ginza Station, stands a magnificent establishment, a nodoguro (red sea bream) specialty restaurant run by Nakamata Shuzo, founded in 1904. A large lantern greets you at the entrance, and inside, you'll be greeted by displays of binchotan charcoal and the day's catch of nodoguro, creating a sense of excitement. While I had already ordered nodoguro and sashimi when making the reservation, I learned that the limited-quantity Tosa-zukuri (a type of sashimi) wasn't included, so I added it to my order. The Toyosu-direct sashimi and bonito were both incredibly sweet and delicious. From the seasonal grilled vegetables, I chose Brussels sprouts and Senju onions. Both were large, but the Brussels sprouts were a bit tough and difficult to eat. The grilled nodoguro was the largest I've ever seen (laughs). With beer and shochu, the bill came out to around 25,000 yen for two, which isn't exactly cheap, but we ate and drank plenty, so I was satisfied. Thank you for the meal! ---------------------------------------------------- On Instagram, I share things I truly love @iamrika_ Someone who loves sound, food, and calligraphy in Tokyo ----------------------------------------------------
Is it closer to Higashi-Ginza when you say Tsukiji? This place has amazing nodoguro (deep-sea perch)! This is my second visit. The nodoguro grilled over charcoal is simply divine. The fat is perfectly marbled, and the flesh melts in your mouth as soon as you touch it with your chopsticks. They seem to be very particular about their nodoguro, and the owner told me he spent every day searching for the perfect source. Nodoguro is a high-end fish, but they only use the ones with the best fat content. It's bound to be delicious! (laughs) It melts in your mouth... It's simply the best! (laughs) I brought my parents here when they visited Tokyo. They both loved it! I don't drink, but the owner told me his family owns a sake brewery called Nakamata Shuzo. My parents said the sake was delicious and had seconds! (laughs) I'll definitely come back again for special occasions! By the way, it seems like they're always fully booked, so I recommend making a reservation well in advance!
