A delightful treat perfect for gifts! "Baum Spitz" is a classic German confection. It's a bite-sized baumkuchen coated in Swiss sweet chocolate. The fluffy baumkuchen is cut into bite-sized pieces and generously coated in chocolate. The chocolate is crisp and delicious right out of the refrigerator. It's also delicious when the chocolate softens a bit after being out for a while. It's a great gift idea!

This German pastry shop is located on the second basement floor of Ginza Mitsukoshi, directly connected to Ginza Station. It's part of the same company as "Yuhheim," known for their baumkuchen. You can also find them in places like Shinjuku Isetan. I secretly love their pastries, so I buy them occasionally. I visited on a Sunday afternoon. It was a Sunday, so Mitsukoshi was packed. They mainly sell baumkuchen-based pastries, with simple baumkuchen and chocolate-covered ones. They also sell cookies and stollen. They have bite-sized baumkuchen with chocolate coating, and I really like those. They have regular chocolate and lemon-flavored chocolate with lemon peel on top, so I went with the lemon one this time. I can't remember the name, it's something complicated. Sounds like "Auschwitz" lol. The chocolate coating adds a moistness to the pastry. It's perfect because the baumkuchen would be dry if cut without the coating. The lemon flavor makes it refreshing. It's a well-balanced pastry. I haven't tried it, but it would probably be delicious chilled.

There are many Baumkuchen shops, but this one is our family's favorite. It's a reliable and stable treat that's always in style, perfect for gifts or for enjoying at home. You can choose from different sizes, and they even have bite-sized ones, which is very convenient. I especially love the "Classic Baum" with chocolate coating. The chocolate on the outside is crispy, while the Baumkuchen inside is moist and not overly sweet, which I really appreciate. The chocolate "Classic Baum" has a shelf life of about two weeks, while the regular "Baumkuchen" is good for a day. They also offer nationwide shipping. The "Mille-feuille Crunch" is a Ginza-exclusive item.

This is a shop I learned about from a friend who lived in Germany. The flavors are simple, but that's what makes them so delicious. I often buy from here for myself or as gifts for friends. Right now, my favorite is the seasonal limited edition white chocolate and raspberry jam version. **Update November 2022:** The deliciousness is consistent. I tried the limited-edition marron (chestnut flavor). I hadn't bought anything from here in a while, and I was surprised to see that the manufacturer is now "ユーハイム 船橋工場" (Yuhi-mu Funabashi Factory).

Ginza Mitsukoshi: A corner in the basement offers a unique atmosphere. Everything is beautifully presented, exuding deliciousness. Prices are also reasonable, making it easy to purchase.
