I visited on a hot day. The fluffy ice and delicious syrup were amazing. It's popular so there was a line, but it was worth the wait. There are many different flavors to choose from. I was a little concerned about the sweetness for someone my age, but the staff was very helpful and explained everything in detail. They even adjusted the amount of syrup for me, so I enjoyed it very much. Payment is cash only, so it would be great if they accepted other forms of payment.
July 2024 (Weekday) Anmitsu Ice ¥1300 White Bean Topping ¥200 Arrived at 2:40 PM, 7th group, 14th person Entered at 3:55 PM Ice arrived at 4:05 PM 2-person tables: 8 4-person tables: 1 2-person counter: 1 Even on weekdays, it was crowded. The wait was long, but the shop is located in a back alley surrounded by buildings, and it was in the shade at this time of year, so it was a relief... The shaved ice size was neither small nor large, making it suitable for everyone. The sweet bean sauce on the surface was smooth and matte, and the taste was delicious. The ice was fluffy and dense, like snow. The inside wasn't covered in syrup (to preserve the fluffy texture), but you can add more syrup as much as you like, so no problem! ♡ When you order more syrup, they take the whole tray with the shaved ice and bring it back after adding the syrup. By the way, in the case of Anmitsu Ice, you can add more black sugar syrup as well as sweet bean sauce. At the bottom, there was black sugar and a lot of agar-agar! I love agar-agar, so this amount was very happy! ♡ The negative points were: - The surface of the white bean topping was melted and mushy (it's understandable because they're busy, but the white beans are probably pre-made), - The shop isn't large, but the air conditioner is big (ceiling-mounted), so it was cold because of the direct air conditioning. The customers were mostly tourists, using it like a cafe, so it seemed to take longer for seats to become available than at other shaved ice specialty stores. I wish they would adopt a ticket or registration system, but the cost performance is not bad, so it might be good for those who don't mind the wait.
Visit this place now before the summer crowds arrive! Their popular item is the 'Anmitsu Ice' for ¥1200. While strawberry and red bean are popular choices, my recommendation is definitely the Anmitsu Ice! It's packed with smooth red bean on top of the ice, and underneath the ice, there's a generous amount of black honey and agar jelly. The best part is that they'll give you extra red bean if you need it! Adding mochi balls for ¥150 as a topping makes it perfect! I was able to enter smoothly on a weekday evening in mid-May. I'm definitely going to visit again in the fall.
I came here to beat the summer heat and try the legendary shaved ice! There's a one-item-per-person rule, so I had the matcha azuki shaved ice and an iced coffee. The ice was truly fluffy, requiring a bit of care to eat, but it melted beautifully in my mouth. I enjoyed the shaved ice immensely. I'll definitely come back again on a hot summer day!
A hidden oasis of calm tucked away in the bustling streets of Asakusa, perfect for weary tourists seeking a moment of respite. I ordered iced coffee and shaved ice, both of which were absolutely delicious!
