Location: 7-minute walk from Shibuya Station I usually go to the Dogenzaka area, but this was my first time visiting "Choraku" near the police box. I ordered: • Pork Ginger Rice (¥980) • Gyoza (¥270) The pork ginger was topped with a generous amount of mayonnaise. I ate the cabbage, onion, pork ginger, and mayonnaise together with rice, and it was absolutely delicious! (*≧∀≦*) I had some rice left over, so I also ordered gyoza. For ¥270, the quality was amazing! They were homemade and very tasty (◠‿◠) It's no wonder this restaurant is often featured in the media (๑>◡<๑)
This is a classic Chinese restaurant in Shibuya, known as a 'machi-chūka' (neighborhood Chinese restaurant). As always, machi-chūka are a friend to the common people. I'm so happy with the wide variety of dishes available for under ¥1,000. The photo shows the famous "Rūsu Rāmen", which is also incredibly delicious and easy on the wallet for this price. The fried rice is part of a set and is a simple, classic egg fried rice. The dumplings are also delicious, with a strong garlic flavor. The food comes out quickly, which is always a plus, and the service is friendly. The location is easy to find, and for this price, speed, and deliciousness in Shibuya, I think it's a fantastic balance.
Meat Rice Bowl - It's quite a hefty portion! The rice is topped with pork, onions, and bamboo shoots, all cut lengthwise like a stir-fried dish, and covered in a savory sauce. The flavor is quite strong, perfect for a hot summer day. It's a sweet and savory soy sauce flavor, and the bamboo shoots have a nice crunchy texture. There's a generous amount of bamboo shoots, so they really stand out both in texture and flavor. Personally, I love bamboo shoots, so I was very happy about that. Maybe it should be called Bamboo Shoot Rice Bowl? I personally would have preferred a slightly less sweet flavor. The sauce is plentiful, almost like a Chinese-style mixed rice. After finishing, my stomach was very full and my tongue was tingling. Maybe it's the power of chemistry? It definitely felt like a 'man's meal'.
The Lu-Su Fried Noodles set. Dishes are served as they are ready. The restaurant is lively and has a typical Chinese eatery atmosphere. The fried rice is hard and dry, with a burnt oil smell but lacking flavor. The fried noodles are good, with a gravy-like sauce.
