This place is a bit of a hidden gem. The food was delicious. It's usually a popular spot for business dinners, but it's gotten much quieter since the pandemic. The dishes come out at a good pace. They're also quite filling, but personally, I would have preferred a slower pace for the food to be served. It's not a timed seating system, so I'll be sure to savor the experience next time.
The restaurant has a luxurious ambiance and a nice atmosphere. Given the price, the food should be delicious, which it was. However, I couldn't tell what the main dish was, so I didn't feel a sense of awe. The meal, including three cups of sake, cost around 41,000 yen. It was a bit disappointing.
The owner is the only one working, so he seems busy when there are many customers. However, the service wasn't particularly slow, and we were able to enjoy our meal smoothly. The seasonal dishes were delicious. Although it was from China, we had matsutake mushrooms in our earthenware pot steam. It seems they were just starting to be harvested, as the people at the table next to us requested domestic ones, and they apparently bought a box from Kamifurano for 120,000 yen. The meal was complete with pan-fried steamed rice. The regular course featured ayu, which had grown quite large and the head was no longer edible, but it was probably the last of the season. I also tried abalone for the first time, which was deep-fried. The sashimi was served with plenty of condiments, offering a variety of flavors. The rice for the final course was cooked individually in a pot, so it was a full meal. I took some home as a souvenir. I will definitely visit again.
The chef may appear gruff, but his dishes are incredibly delicate and delicious. The final dish, the simmered rice, is truly exceptional.
