I received a pineapple cake from a friend in Taiwan and it was so delicious that I visited their store in Minami Aoyama to buy some. Customers who make a purchase can enjoy a complimentary tea and one item on the second floor. I took my time to relax there. This store was designed by Ken'go Kuma, so I took my time to look around. The description reads, "The three-story building was constructed using a traditional joinery technique called 'Jigokumi,' where skilled craftsmen meticulously assemble each piece of wood in a three-dimensional lattice. As you enter the store, you are enveloped by sunlight filtering through the intricate intersections of the wooden framework, creating an illusion of being lost in a forest. The light and the unique aroma of cypress wood change with time. As dusk falls, the entire building emerges like a lantern in the darkness." It's truly beautiful. The staff were very attentive and provided excellent service. Thank you for the delicious treats!
The building is impressive and has a wonderful atmosphere. When you purchase pastries, you can enjoy tea and sweets on the second floor. You can try out pastries you're interested in, which is a great service. The staff were also kind. Personally, I think the pineapple cake is the best, even better than the apple cake. The banana cookies with the cut-out shapes were fun, but the taste was as expected. There wasn't any artificial flavoring, which is good.
On the first floor, you can purchase pineapple cakes for takeout, and then you'll be guided to the second floor where you can enjoy delicious tea and cake. I wasn't a big fan of Taiwanese sweets, but these are delicious! Taiwanese tea is also very good, isn't it? The fragrant oolong tea pairs well with the pineapple cake. The unique and stylish building designed by architect Kengo Kuma is a must-see. The takeout cakes have a long shelf life, so they make great gifts. If you don't need the cloth bag that comes with it, you can get a discount. (I thought it was cute, so I kept it.)
Located in a residential area a short walk from Omotesando, this shop offers a complimentary tea and snack service on the second floor after making a purchase on the first floor. Their pineapple cakes are identical to those you'd find in Taiwan and are absolutely delicious. They make a perfect little gift.
My second visit to this place. First of all, the building itself is a work of art. It's a stunning building with a huge impact, tucked away on a street lined with houses and office buildings. It's a must-see! The interior is just as artistic, with a wooden design. When you buy souvenirs, you can enjoy tea and snacks (like pineapple cakes) on the second floor. This time, I bought a box of five pineapple cakes as souvenirs and enjoyed tea and one pineapple cake on the second floor. The pineapple cakes have a crispy exterior and a moist interior, making them incredibly delicious! Although they're called cakes, they have a shelf life of about a month, which is a great bonus! I'll definitely be coming back here to buy gifts in the future!
