I visited this cafe on September 22, 2024, in the afternoon. It's located near Nihonbashi Station on the subway, next to Takashimaya. The cafe has a very retro, French-style exterior. It was crowded for lunch when I went, but I was able to find a seat. At first, they only showed me the lunch set menu, and I thought they didn't have dessert. But when I asked, they did! I ordered the apple cake set, which came with ice cream and was delicious. They allowed smoking, so I was able to have a cigarette. Since it was Sunday, many of the customers were employees from the nearby department stores. There were also a lot of regulars, and some of the staff even remembered their orders. It seems like a lot of people come here for lunch, a cigarette, and a break. The cafe has a lot of history and feels like a classic, old-fashioned coffee shop.
This is a smoking-allowed cafe, and most patrons were smoking. Everyone was there alone, and the time passed quietly without any conversation. The Morning Set A (¥650) is a basic morning set with thick-cut toast and a boiled egg, but it has unique touches like a miso soup with plenty of deep-fried tofu served with a fork, and a somewhat psychedelic Western music playing as background music in a calm space. Considering the location, I think the price is good. The service was also casual and smooth, which was good. However, I was surprised when they started mopping the floor. It was a bit distracting to have it done right in front of me while I was eating.
Thank you. I enjoyed a delicious menchi-katsu for lunch. The entire restaurant is a smoking section, which gives it a nostalgic feel with its old-fashioned aroma.
A retro-style coffee shop in the heart of the city, where you can feel the atmosphere of Showa era. The ambiance, the ashtrays on the tables, the patterned table mats, and the cheerful greetings from the older lady staff member all create a sense of comfort. It's probably an oasis for smokers, as there are few of them around. I don't smoke, but when I went in, it was empty except for one person who was vaping, so it didn't bother me. I imagine it gets crowded after lunch. - Iced Cafe au Lait 650 yen (tax included) The milk and coffee are in two layers. The taste is average, but it quenched my thirst. Lunch is served from 11:30 am. I'd like to drop by again when it's less crowded.
It's a completely smoking establishment! Most of the customers smoke. However, I don't feel it's overly smoky, perhaps due to the high ceilings. It seems like many of the customers are employees from the nearby Takashimaya department store. The lunch set offers various menu options, and the curry comes with pickled radish instead of pickled onions.
