Their cakes are incredibly popular, and there are always lines at every store. The Mitsukoshi Ginza store is especially crazy, I think! 😂 This time, I tried their baked goods! Conclusion! They have a high-quality feel, which is great!!! However, the taste is still like their cakes. It can't compare to the impact of their cakes, but the quality as a gift is definitely top-notch. I bought their seasonal apple pie. It comes in a box of 14 pieces for about ¥2800. The large box with the apple pies laid out on top is very impressive. The pie is moist and filled with lots of sweet, stewed apples, making it feel luxurious. It looks expensive and would definitely make the recipient feel like they received a special gift.
The best strawberry cake in Ginza. A single slice of their strawberry shortcake features an abundance of juicy, sweet strawberries. The cake itself is soft and moist, with additional strawberry pieces sandwiched between the layers. You could easily devour a dozen of these, but they are incredibly popular, resulting in long lines at the store. While they offer other seasonal fruit cakes, the strawberry shortcake is my favorite of those I've tried. The cake is packaged in a protective case to ensure it doesn't move during transport. Highly recommended.
It's big and delicious, but I'm not sure if it's worth the ¥1000. There's nothing particularly special about it that would make me choose it over other options. The store only had one staff member and there weren't many customers, but I still had to wait a long time.
The shortcake was absolutely delicious! 🍰 I was so impressed!!! The first-picked strawberries were so sweet and had no sourness at all. The cream was also not too sweet and had a light texture. It melted in my mouth. My partner usually dislikes sour strawberries, but they said, "I can eat these strawberries! They're sweet!" and surprisingly devoured them. The tart wasn't too sweet either, and it disappeared quickly. I'm going to get my shortcakes here from now on. I've found my favorite cake shop! Thank you, Mitsukoshi.
This shop is located inside the train station. It gets very crowded during weekday evenings. I wanted to buy a whole strawberry cake, but it sold out while I was waiting in line. So, I ended up ordering a strawberry cream puff (¥370), a tart, and a shortcake, which are all limited-time offerings. They were all just average in taste. They look nice and are quite large though. The cut tart costs almost ¥700. Some of their baked goods, which have a longer shelf life, are quite delicious. However, the apple with chocolate coating I bought this time was not very good. It came in a cute cylindrical container, so I bought one for myself to try before giving it as a gift. But I ended up changing the gift to something else. I bought some sablés (peach and cherry) for myself. They are not too sweet and are delicious. If you put them on a nice plate, you could even serve them to guests. They are even better when chilled in the summer.
