This is a long-established specialty shop for ningyo-yaki (a type of Japanese pastry). Their auspicious ningyo-yaki, molded in the shape of the Seven Lucky Gods, are made with no additives and baked by hand, resulting in a gentle sweetness. The fluffy pastry is filled with plenty of sweet bean paste, making it a perfect treat for children and adults alike. The shop's history of over a century speaks volumes about the quality of their products. They are easy to enjoy at home or as a gift, and the shop's convenient location makes it a valuable resource.
I was staying at a hotel in Ningyocho, so I wanted to buy some Ningyo-yaki as a souvenir and came here. It's a shop with a traditional feel, which is evident in its appearance and atmosphere. As someone who lives in a regional area, I felt it was a bit pricey. ^^;
This is an old-fashioned shop specializing in ningyo-yaki (doll-shaped pastries). I was happy to find that the ningyo-yaki had anko (sweet bean paste) filling. They ask you right away if you're buying for yourself or as a gift. The ningyo-yaki are priced at 700 yen for 5, 1500 yen for 10, and 2000 yen for 20. Each doll has a unique face. In the last photo, the face on the left in the back got squashed and looks a bit scary... I'm so sorry I couldn't carry them home properly.
【A Variety of Faces, So Interesting! ☆ A Long-Established Doll-Shaped Cake Shop Founded 110 Years Ago】 Nihombashi Ningyocho, Chuo-ku, Tokyo. Established in 1907. This is a long-established doll-shaped cake shop located in the birthplace of Ningyo-yaki (doll-shaped cake). It's a classic souvenir for Ningyocho and Suitengu Shrine ( ´∀`)σ ◆Today's Order◆ 5 Ningyo-yaki with An (sweet bean paste) filling - 500 yen 6 Kasutera-yaki without An - 240 yen I bought "Ningyo-yaki Shichifukujin" (Seven Lucky Gods) and "Kasutera-yaki (Senshi-yaki)" at Itakura-ya as a gift for a friend and for myself. The ingredients are wheat flour, sugar, eggs, azuki beans, Kato condensed milk, honey, and mirin. There are no additives, so it only lasts for about 3 days (*^ω^) The Jurojin and Fukurokuju of the Seven Lucky Gods look similar, so maybe they were unified into one person? Senshi-yaki was created after the Russo-Japanese War when it became difficult to obtain anko (sweet bean paste)! (^^)! It has a simple flavor ヾ(´ー`)ノ I found it creepy as a child, but now I can eat it in one bite ( ̄▽ ̄)ゞ #Front #Japanese Sweets #Souvenir #Ningyo-yaki #Seven Lucky Gods #Tokyo Souvenir #Post Content, Menu, and Prices are as of March 2017
Besides cash, they also accept digital payments like PayPay. I bought some rice crackers and "ningyo-yaki" (a type of Japanese pastry) and they were delicious! ☺ I accidentally arrived at the shop way before it opened, but they were very kind and helpful. I'm grateful for their kindness. 🙏 The shop opens at 10:00 AM, so please make sure you don't arrive too early.
