I bought 4 regular cream puffs and 2 chocolate cream puffs, which are only available on weekends. The total was \¥1980 including tax. It's a bit pricey, but the puff pastry was crispy and the cream filling was rich and delicious! I was drawn to the use of brown sugar, and I definitely want to buy them again.
Tagayasu, a cake shop in Ningyocho, is known for its "Masu Tiramisu" (Tiramisu served in a traditional Japanese wooden box). However, their regular Tiramisu is also a great value at less than 400 yen. The taste is delicious, and I was completely satisfied. ✨ Thank you for the meal!
I visited this shop for the first time on a Saturday, close to closing time. While I was browsing the display case, a regular customer came in and politely asked me if they could order first. I said, "Sure, go ahead." They ordered a cream puff without hesitation, as if it was their usual order. It must be delicious. As they were leaving, they said, "Thank you for letting me go first." Their manners were excellent. The female staff member was also very kind and made me feel comfortable. For my first purchase at this shop, I chose a shortcake, panna cotta, and coconut mango pudding. In my personal experience, shortcakes from cake shops outside of department stores, especially those run by individuals, can be hit or miss (I've had more misses than hits...). To be honest, I wasn't expecting much from this one. But after taking a bite, I couldn't help but exclaim, "This is so good!" It was a classic shortcake, but light and delicate, with a sweetness that wasn't overpowering. What surpassed even the shortcake was the panna cotta. The mochi topping was irresistible. Who would have thought to put mochi on panna cotta? (laughs) I regretted not savoring it more and ended up eating it all too quickly. The mango pudding had a refined taste and was very creamy. The tiramisu I was hoping to try was sold out, so I'll have to come back for that next time.
I recently visited a small, charming cake shop in Ningyocho for the first time. This time, I opted for takeout. To cut to the chase, it was the best Mont Blanc I've ever had. The Mont Blanc was layered with a delicate sweetness of chestnut cream, followed by light whipped cream, then a chestnut paste that captured the subtle bitterness of chestnuts, and finally a wafer base coated in chocolate. Each layer was meticulously crafted, and the chestnut paste in particular was a unique and innovative touch that I haven't seen elsewhere. This is a must-try for anyone. I'm eager to try other cakes from this shop. Thank you for the delicious treat.
Classic Chocolate: A bit dry, but decent. Sicily: The pistachio flavor was strong and enjoyable. Japanese Chestnut Monte Bianco: It was delicious, with a subtle sweetness and a touch of Japanese confectionery.
