A charming cafe called "Komagata" in Asakusa. It's one of the most popular cafes in the area, so you'll likely have to wait on weekends unless you arrive right when it opens or closes. I visited shortly after opening and enjoyed their morning menu of butter toast and cafe latte. The toast is made with bread from the famous bakery, "Pelican," and it's delicious with its crispy exterior, chewy interior, and the perfect balance of salty butter and sweet honey. The coffee is aromatic and mellow with milk, making the bitterness and acidity mild and enjoyable. They also have a great selection of desserts like pudding, so why not start your Asakusa sightseeing with their morning menu or some sweets?
I was staying in Ryogoku and looking for a cafe with good reviews for breakfast. I found this place within walking distance and came here for the croque monsieur. I arrived at 10:40 am, but the croque monsieur was only available as part of the lunch set starting at 11 am, so I waited outside for 20 minutes. I was a little worried about my flight time, but once it hit 11 am, the crowd thinned out and I was able to grab a seat quickly, which was a relief. The croque monsieur was quite large and delicious, but I noticed that the bottom of the bread was quite burnt. Maybe they could use a few more layers of aluminum foil to prevent this? Or is this normal? Despite this, the staff were kind and attentive, and the cafe latte was delicious. It was worth the walk from early in the morning.
A sandwich lunch using bread from Pelican. A small cafe with Instagrammable menu items. The cafe has a one-hour time limit for dine-in customers. This small cafe is located in Asakusa, just a short walk from the Komagata Bridge intersection. I had my eye on this place for their morning menu. After having lunch, I stopped by here because my lunch was light (lol). It's basically a food crawl, right? (^-^ゞ The cafe was about 80% full and quite narrow. The weather and climate were perfect, so I enjoyed my meal on the terrace seating area in front of the store. It's located on a backstreet, so the view isn't great, but the atmosphere is stylish ❤️ I was aiming for the pudding with ice cream on top, but this is a cafe after all, so they have a one-drink minimum rule and dessert only is not allowed. For some reason, the lunch I had earlier was still filling me up, so I decided I couldn't handle both and gave up on the pudding and tea... So, I went for my favorite cream soda ❤️. The best of both worlds! (^w^) People with big appetites should go for the sandwich lunch. I got to try a bite. ◆ Cream Soda 820 yen ◆ Sandwich Lunch 1200 yen +50 yen? to change the drink to iced cafe au lait The sandwich I had a bite of... this bread is no ordinary bread! It's "Pelican." I often buy bread from Pelican, which is nearby, so I recognized it. But maybe I was mistaken... When I asked the staff on my way out, they were surprised and said, "Yes!" Maybe they don't advertise it much... or maybe they should be promoting it more. It's not on the menu... Actually, there are a lot of places in Asakusa that use Pelican bread... The bread is incredibly moist, finely textured, pale, and chewy... it's bound to be delicious. I'll have to aim for their toast morning menu next time ❤️... The orange cream soda was surprisingly sweet at first because the orange syrup had settled at the bottom (lol). The vanilla ice cream was rich and had lots of vanilla beans in it. It was delicious ❤️ I was feeling hungry and wanted to try everything. It's a stylish cafe that makes you want to eat. The cafe has Wi-Fi and power outlets. Payment can be made with PayPay. Next time, I'm definitely going for the morning menu ✨ Thank you for the meal.
◎ 9th Visit: September 2024 • Added photos (4) I visited on a weekday at around 8:30 a.m. and there was no wait. However, there were still quite a few customers during morning hours, so I was lucky. By the way... there are two counter seats in the store (right by the entrance and at the back). Plus, including the terrace seats, there are five tables of various sizes (I think?) - a total capacity of around 20 seats. It seems suitable for both solo and group use. I ordered the "Morning Bread Set." The toast uses bread from the famous Pelikan bakery in Asakusa, and you can choose between butter or cheese (+50 yen). I chose butter again this time. The toast has a texture and aroma that I really enjoy when I chew it. The thickness is just right. The bread has a dense texture that makes it crisp, and the firm crust adds a nice accent. The butter and syrup soaked into the surface make it melt in your mouth. The aroma of the bread itself wafts up between the layers. Delicious. a) Situation: • Visited around 8:35 a.m. on a weekday • No wait time, ordered and sat at the end of the counter at the back b) Service: • Professional c) Order: • Morning Bread Set @ ¥800 (tax included) └ Butter Toast └ Iced Americano ◎ 8th Visit: February 2024 • Added photos (2) ◎ 7th Visit: January 2024 • Added photos (3) ◎ 6th Visit: December 2023 • Added photos • During the morning hours when I visit, there are more overseas visitors (maybe it was just a coincidence). It's always crowded, so make sure you have plenty of time when you visit. • The bread is still from the same "Pelikan" bakery in Asakusa. I still love it.
I ordered cheese toast and a cafe latte. They were delicious. Even though the weather was bad and it was drizzling, there was a line, which shows how popular it is. I heard the menu is different on weekdays, so I'll definitely come back again.
