I recently visited Shibuya after a long time. It was a weekday, but it was during the Obon holiday period, so there were a lot of people. Today, I went to Bistro Gourmand, which is located near the top of Spain-zaka. I had a reservation for 1:30 PM, but I arrived at 1:10 PM and was kindly shown to my table. Today, I had: ◾️Lunch Plate (Kagoshima Prefecture Chami Pork Roast) (¥1500) ◾️Mini Wine (Red) (Complimentary) ◾️Glass of Wine (Red) (¥430) I saw a sign inside the restaurant that said they offer a complimentary mini wine with the lunch plate, so I asked about it. They explained it was self-service. I took a mini wine glass and poured myself some wine from a barrel near the kitchen. It was quite small, but we toasted with it. Afterwards, I ordered a glass of red wine. Then, the lunch plate arrived. The pork was incredibly thick and large. I was a little surprised. The presentation was great. And it was so tender. I knew it would be tender when I cut into it with my knife, but it was truly soft when I chewed it. The seasoning was perfect. I was happy to see that there was a good amount of fat (I love fat). The sauce was also mild and delicious. The minestrone was also mildly flavored, but it was packed with umami and very tasty. The salad was made with fresh, high-quality ingredients, and the dressing was a perfect match. The food was excellent, and the atmosphere of the restaurant was very nice. The staff was also very friendly and attentive. I will definitely be coming back. Thank you for the meal.
📍Shibuya [Bistro Gourmand] Bistro Gourmand is a long-standing bistro in Shibuya's Spain-zaka area. 🇫🇷 You can enjoy classic French bistro dishes in a charming, old-world setting.😇 Their biggest draw is the 7 different types of barrel-aged wines available for a 30-minute all-you-can-drink deal for just 590 yen! ✨✨ If you're looking for a casual place to enjoy a lot of wine, this is the place for you!
I went with a friend on a Saturday afternoon. The food was all delicious, and the atmosphere of the restaurant was great, it felt like I was in a French bistro. I was happy to be able to experience the feeling of being in a French bistro while in Japan. The dishes we had were: * Salmon Mariné * Roasted "Chamiton" Pork from Kagoshima Prefecture * White Gateau Chocolat The meat was tender and went well with the sauce! The White Gateau Chocolat was a white chocolate cake I had never eaten before, and it had a different sweetness and aroma than a regular Gateau Chocolat. If you are a fan of France, you should definitely check it out. The wines were also reasonably priced and all easy to drink and delicious.
I often visit Sofitta, which is run by the same management as this place, but it was fully booked, so I came here since I had been here before. When I came back after a while, I was surprised to see that all the menu items were so expensive. I don't think young people can come here anymore... The beef cheek was very delicious! Overall, the drinks and bread were served slowly after ordering, so it would be nice if they were a little faster... The atmosphere and the food are great, so I hope they will add more affordable menu items.
I ordered the lunch set, and for ¥1,600, I got a quiche that was more like an appetizer portion, with a small amount of lettuce. The value for money was terrible. The taste was good, which was a saving grace. My intended restaurant was fully booked, so I wandered into this place. It was lunchtime, but there were no customers, and the interior was messy and chaotic, which made me suspicious. My suspicions were confirmed. Looking back at past reviews, it seems they used to have a ¥1,000 lunch set that was good value for money. But there was no mention of it on the lunch menu I saw today. This drastic change in quality makes me wonder if there was a change in ownership.
