Located on the first floor of the ky building on the corner of Tsukiji 4-chome, you'll find 【Juyukido】. They have an eat-in space where you can enjoy freshly brewed tea and cakes. They sell very delicious tea. They also have a wide variety of teas to choose from. The price range is from inexpensive to expensive, and the staff are not pushy, so you can browse at your leisure. **A little extra:** This tea shop is run by Maruyama Noriten, so their tea is apparently used in sushi restaurants in Tsukiji. (I don't know the specific names of the restaurants, though, haha.)
Authentic Matcha Shaved Ice. A Hard-Core Treat with Only the Sweetness of Red Bean Paste, No Syrup. I happened to pass by on a weekday afternoon and stumbled upon this amazing Matcha Uji Kin-Tō. The matcha is incredibly rich and dense, all the way through. It has a distinct bitterness that harmonizes perfectly with the subtly sweet red bean paste. The warm hojicha tea enhances the enjoyment of the shaved ice all the way to the end.
If you're planning to have tea before watching a Kabuki performance, I highly recommend making a reservation in advance. Depending on the day, there can be quite a long line, and you might end up missing the start of the show while waiting. It would be great if there were more tea specialty shops like this in other places, but on the other hand, it feels like this one is a perfect fit for the Kabuki-za. I enjoyed a delicious cup of new tea and some sweets.
I stumbled upon this shop on my way back from the outer market. I was able to buy some delicious tea. I was curious about the Japanese black tea and yuzu green tea, so I was able to try them. I thought the hospitality was wonderful. They are a really nice tea shop near the Tsukiji Fish Market. One staff member can even speak English! You can try REAL Japanese tea here. You can try some sweets and tea before you purchase! Ask the staff, they are very nice and have good hospitality.
I always look forward to their unique menu that you won't find anywhere else. The beautiful garden makes you forget you're in the city.
