I visited around 7:30 PM on a weekday. As the name suggests, the restaurant offers a wide variety of lotus root dishes. They are healthy yet satisfying. The lotus root cutlets were particularly delicious, with a crispy exterior and juicy interior. The restaurant has a calm atmosphere, making it a comfortable and ideal spot for a relaxing evening with friends. The staff were friendly and welcoming, creating a warm and inviting ambiance. The prices are reasonable, making it a great choice for those seeking healthy Japanese cuisine.
This is an izakaya specializing in lotus root dishes. The menu is incredibly extensive, offering a wide variety of lotus root dishes, including shrimp and lotus root cutlets, lotus root dumplings, lotus root croquettes, lotus root pickles, and more. There are also many kid-friendly options like croquettes, fried lotus root, and hashed lotus root, all of which were delicious. Thanks to this experience, I've expanded my repertoire of lotus root dishes. It was a wonderful meal. Lotus root is rich in dietary fiber, offering numerous health benefits such as relieving constipation, reducing swelling, preventing arteriosclerosis, promoting blood circulation, and improving skin health.
I ordered the following: Japanese sake "Shichiken" (¥980), sweet potato shochu "八幡" (¥680), lotus root and seasonal greens simmered in soy sauce (¥650), lotus root and squid stir-fried with garlic butter (¥800), lotus root braised in a savory broth with minced pork (¥800), and a starter (¥400), for a total of ¥4,310. ◆ Interior Design: ☆☆☆ The restaurant is narrow but deep. Upon entering, there are five 4-person tables and one 3-person table. In the back, there is a 6-seat counter and the kitchen in front of it. There seem to be seats on the 2nd and 3rd floors as well. ◆ Operations and Atmosphere: ☆☆☆ There are two men in the kitchen and three men serving and working in the kitchen. The restaurant was lively with a diverse range of customers. The background music was calming jazz, such as Dominick Farinacci Quartet. ◆ Food: ☆☆☆☆ Despite the focus on lotus root, each dish was creatively prepared and delicious. The selection of sake was also impressive. ◆ Value for Money: ☆☆☆☆ The value for money is excellent. Considering the price, the location, interior, and taste are all great. It's no wonder that reservations are always full.
Located a 2-minute walk from the Hirokoji Exit of Keisei Ueno Station. No parking available. Open daily. Operating hours: Monday to Thursday 5 PM to 11 PM, Friday 5 PM to 11:30 PM, Saturday 4 PM to 11:30 PM, Sunday and Public Holidays 4 PM to 11 PM. It's always crowded, so reservations are recommended. The entrance is narrow, but it extends to the third floor. Order your food from the staff initially, and for additional orders, use the mobile app 👍 No more frustration with ordering! They have a wide selection of drinks. The private rooms allow you to enjoy your drinks without worrying about others 🍻. They offer a variety of lotus root dishes, making it hard to choose. Start with the fried lotus root 🤤. The chestnut and potato Mont Blanc-style dessert is a surprise. It looks like Mont Blanc, but it's not sweet 😳.
It's located a bit off the beaten path from Ameya-Yokocho. The exterior is stylish, so I couldn't help but go in. The interior is quiet and calm, with a great atmosphere. This time, I tried the unusual soft-shelled turtle blood (wine-based) and soft-shelled turtle sashimi. They also have a wide variety of soft-shelled turtle dishes, including hot pot, soup, and congee! I heard that the lotus root dishes, which are featured in the restaurant's name, are famous, so I want to try them next time. It was delicious.
