A down-to-earth izakaya in Asakusa. The prices and atmosphere are very 'shitamachi' (downtown). While places like monjayaki restaurants and izakayas on the main street are usually packed, this one is relatively empty. The sashimi and yakitori are both well-prepared and delicious. I brought a foreign friend here, and they really loved the yakitori. There's an English menu by the register. The restroom is located to the side of the store. If you're looking for a place on a weekend when things are busy, this is a good option. It's best to check if there are any tables available before you go.
I ordered the "Meat and Eggplant Miso Stir-fry Set" from the lunch menu. The eggplant and meat were stir-fried with a rich miso flavor, making it a delicious dish that went perfectly with rice. The set also included miso soup and a small side dish, filling both my stomach and my heart. The price was reasonable, and I was able to enter without waiting even during lunchtime, making it a convenient option for a quick meal during a busy day. I highly recommend it for lunch in Asakusa!
I had a glass of their "Kodawari Lemon Sour" (¥490) and two skewers of "Tsukune" (¥420). I actually found the canned lemon sour I had at home, with a slice of lemon added, to be more delicious. The "Tsukune" was fluffy, but lacked a strong meaty flavor. For the price, it was a bit underwhelming.
The restaurant has a nostalgic Showa-era retro atmosphere, and the menu features dishes that pair perfectly with alcohol. It makes you want to raise a toast with a bottle of beer in a place like this. It was Sunday lunchtime, so the restaurant was quite full. The food at the table next to me looked delicious, so I ordered the same thing. It was a Tanuki Tofu dish. Tofu simmered in a flavorful broth with a generous amount of tempura scraps and meat. It tasted exactly as I expected, and it was delicious. They had three different kinds of bottled beer, and I tried them all. It was a great meal. Thank you.
They have a wide variety of dishes, so it's popular with foreigners. It's a great place to stop by for a quick bite or drink, as they're open early.
