A stylish establishment nestled on Kotto-dori, featuring a modern Japanese space with a spherical light fixture that exudes both style and artistic flair. The open and spacious counter kitchen allows for a lively view of the skewering and grilling process, where you can enjoy the exquisite flavors of Hinai chicken yakitori. I opted for the course menu, and the high quality was evident from the first bite of vegetables seasoned with salt and olive oil. The superior quality of Hinai chicken, with its rich flavor, shines through in every skewer. From the tender sasami to the succulent bonjiri, the meat is springy and flavorful, with the perfect skewering and grilling techniques. The simplicity of the dishes only enhances their deliciousness, making you want to savor every bite. The crispy skin and juicy interior of the chicken wings are highly recommended. I also enjoyed the modern skewers, including the scamorza cheese skewers, from the à la carte menu. The wine selection is impressive, with three whites and three reds available by the glass. I paired the rich Chardonnay from a renowned Burgundy house with a robust Pinot Noir from the Yarra Valley in Victoria, Australia. The establishment also boasts a comprehensive selection of Japanese whiskies, including Hakushu and Yamazaki, making it a perfect choice for both locals and international visitors in the heart of Aoyama. Upon learning that the restaurant has earned a Michelin Bib Gourmand, I was not surprised. The yakitori here is truly memorable and delicious, and I look forward to returning with friends.
This restaurant serves Hinode chicken, a breed known for its unique cuts that are hard to find elsewhere. 🐓 The chicken was incredibly juicy and tender, making it hard to resist ordering more. 💯 There are three different courses, each featuring four skewers of yakitori, with variations in appetizers, special dishes, and final courses. Everything was delicious, and I definitely want to return. However, I would love to see more yakitori skewers included in the courses. 😋 笑
I had purchased a standard course with a membership card and pairing on Makuake, but due to the pandemic, I hadn't been able to visit Minami Aoyama Toriya Kousuke. I had previously used the Roppongi branch for business entertainment, but this is a new store that opened just before the pandemic hit this year, making it quite bad timing. It's marketed as the pinnacle of everyday dining, and while it's not that expensive, the alcohol menu is extensive, and ordering drinks would make it quite pricey for everyday use. Also, while there were some delicious dishes among the main courses, from a cost-performance perspective, there are many restaurants in nearby Ebisu that are just as good, if not better. So, personally, I'm a bit ambivalent about that aspect. However, they have a wide selection of drinks and a great atmosphere, so it seems like a good choice for a date with a focus on alcohol.
