I was able to purchase a dorayaki without a reservation around noon on a weekday. It cost 240 yen per piece. It was absolutely delicious. One dorayaki is large and filling, so I think 240 yen is a great price. The red bean paste is especially delicious. I preferつぶあん (tsubuan, a type of red bean paste with whole beans), so it was perfect for me. ⚠️ Please note that only cash payments are accepted. ⚠️ The expiration date is the next day. I went back on another weekday around 4 pm and they were sold out, so if you're going later in the day, it might be safer to call ahead and reserve. I first tried this dorayaki as a gift and was surprised by how delicious it was, so I bought one for myself. I will definitely be a repeat customer. I haven't tried anything else besides the dorayaki, so I'd like to try some of their other items in the future.
The dorayaki was absolutely delicious! The batter was fluffy and the sweet bean paste had a freshly made, warm feeling. Even after I got home, it tasted like it was freshly made. It was a classic dorayaki without any unnecessary twists, and I'm sure it would appeal to everyone. The mochi was also delicious with the same sweet bean paste, but the dorayaki is definitely the star! I went around 12:30 pm on a weekday, and it was a popular shop with a steady stream of customers.
I visited earlier this time because they were sold out last time when I went in the afternoon, and this time they had them!!! ◆Dorayaki ¥240 The dough was very fluffy and soft... The filling was packed with sweet bean paste. The sweetness was just right◎ As expected! It's no wonder it's considered one of the top three dorayaki. The size was bigger than I expected and it was very satisfying. This would be a great gift to bring someone!
While Tokyo's three most famous dorayaki shops are often said to be 'Soushu' in Higashi-Jujo, 'Usagiya' in Ueno, and 'Kameju' in Asakusa, this particular shop is run by the third son of the founder of 'Usagiya' in Ueno. I absolutely adore the sweetness of the bean paste, the way it's cooked, and the chewy, springy texture of the dough. This is my favorite dorayaki. One piece is incredibly satisfying, both physically and mentally (laughs). I always enjoy it with green tea or coffee. Recently, it's become difficult to buy without a reservation, so I recommend making one in advance.
Usagiya in Nihonbashi. I visited around 3 PM on a Friday afternoon. There was no wait, but customers started coming in one after another, so it was great timing. I was happy to find that they still had some dorayaki left. They sold out while I was paying, so I think there were about 20 left. I bought both monaka and dorayaki, and both were delicious! The dorayaki dough was incredibly tasty! It was filled with a generous amount of bean paste. It was one of the best I've ever had. It's definitely worth the wait. I want to go back and buy some again when I'm in the area.
