I arrived around 12 pm on a weekday and was able to get a seat without waiting. I ordered a Viennese coffee and a cheese toast. They arrived in about 10 minutes. The Viennese coffee had a pleasantly sweet whipped cream and the coffee was strong, making a perfect combination. The cheese toast was made with thick slices of toast, divided into three pieces, and the rich cheese was perfectly browned and melted. Both were delicious. The interior was also very stylish, and I felt like I had entered another world during my lunch break, enjoying a sense of the extraordinary. I will definitely visit again!
This is a traditional Japanese coffee shop, but thankfully it's a non-smoking establishment in Ningyocho. All the surrounding places allow smoking, so this is a welcome change. The low tables evoke a sense of nostalgia and create a very pleasant atmosphere. There are people reading books alone, and neighborhood men chatting about the shopping district, all adding to the Showa era vibe. It's refreshing to see no one using a laptop. It was a very hot day, so I ordered a coffee float, and it was very satisfying. It's a shame the shop closes early, but maybe that's part of its Showa charm.
A retro coffee shop just a short walk from Ningyocho Station. It's been around for a long time, but the interior is clean. Photography inside is prohibited, as is entering in groups of 5 or more. Smoking is also banned, so I was able to enjoy a quiet and relaxing time. The tables are spacious and comfortable. The toast uses bread from Pelican in Asakusa, and the honey toast was fluffy and delicious, even the crust. However, I wish they had used a bit more high-quality butter and honey. The deliciousness of the Pelican bread was somewhat diminished. They accept PayPay and credit cards.
Established on August 8th, 1919, "Kissa Kyō Kaishoken" is a coffee shop that was frequented by the renowned writer Kunihiko Mukoda. While the interior has been renovated, it still retains some of its original charm. However, the Taisho Romanticism or Showa Retro atmosphere is subtle, making it feel like a typical coffee shop. If you're looking for a retro experience, this might not be the place for you. I ordered a Wiener coffee, and the whipped cream was beautifully presented. The coffee was carefully dripped, resulting in a flavorful brew. The entire shop is non-smoking, and photography is prohibited inside.
I enjoyed a cozy atmosphere, cocoa, and thick-cut honey toast at this cafe 😊 They use bread from the popular Pelican bakery in Asakusa 🍞, which is fluffy and delicious 😃
