We arrived around noon on Sunday. We were lucky to get a table right away, but it seemed like there was a long wait afterwards. We ordered the ¥2,100 lunch set (main course, salad, drink, dessert). I had the Napolitan, iced cafe latte, and castella cake. My daughter had the mentaiko pasta, iced tea, and baked donut. Considering it was a Sunday in the heart of Ginza, I think the price was reasonable. It was nice that they provided paper aprons. The food was average, but the castella cake was delicious.
Recently, I went for a stroll in Ginza wearing a yukata. I had my hair and kimono set done from 11 am to 12:30 pm, and I was already starving by then! 😂 We headed to "Bunmeido" while strolling around Ginza. It was surprisingly empty, and my partner and I were both surprised. It was the first time we'd seen it so empty, and we'd never been inside before, so we decided to give it a try. I always thought it was crowded, so maybe it was just a coincidence. As we were having lunch, it quickly filled up. Maybe it was the wrong time of day, but the pancakes weren't available until 2 pm, so we opted for a more affordable lunch. My partner had the Napolitan, and I had a hamburger, which I hadn't had in a while. Both came with a drink, and I had an iced latte. The coaster design was so cute, I had to take a picture. The high ceilings and stained glass-like walls were also very impressive, as you'd expect from Bunmeido. The staff were very elegant. Thank you for the meal.
The hamburgers are delicious. If you go a little early, even on weekends, you can get in smoothly. It faces Chuo-dori, so it seems like it would be crowded, but around 1:00 PM, there's usually a bit of a line. The castella dessert is also delicious, of course.
I used it for a business meeting. It was good because it's near the center of Ginza, relatively uncrowded, and we were able to get in quickly. Drinks alone are ¥1,000, while the lunch set is ¥1,600, so the lunch set is much more worthwhile. However, the food isn't incredibly delicious.
After finishing my shopping, I always stop by this restaurant for lunch when I come to Ginza. On this particular occasion, I was careless and spilled some of my omu-hayashi (a Japanese dish of rice topped with a fried egg and a savory stew) on a precious piece of clothing that my wife had given me as a gift, leaving a stain. Noticing my frantic attempts to remove the stain with a napkin, a staff member calmly offered me a stain remover and two more napkins. I already loved the atmosphere and sweets at this restaurant, but this kind gesture made me want to come back even more. The staff's attentiveness and service were exceptional, and the food was delicious. I highly recommend this restaurant to anyone visiting Ginza.
